When was the last time you did a good deed?

good deeds are extremely selfish though, especially if u go lookin for them. i mean, when u do a good deed it gives u an enormous feelin of self righteousness and so if u enjoy that feelin and u go lookin for it again it immediatly because a selfish act to make ur self feel better. hence the reason i avoid good deeds as im not a selfish person

but isn't that a little self-righteous to proclaim that you avoid good deeds because you're not a selfish person? in that case, if you're gonna be damned by self-righteousness on either side, wouldn't it be better to err on the side of helping someone else?ttam wrote:good deeds are extremely selfish though, especially if u go lookin for them. i mean, when u do a good deed it gives u an enormous feelin of self righteousness and so if u enjoy that feelin and u go lookin for it again it immediatly because a selfish act to make ur self feel better. hence the reason i avoid good deeds as im not a selfish person

I standardly tip 20%, cause waiters make less than minimum wage.

theres this fella who's partially sighted who lives near me, and i live on a busy main road. Help him cross the road pretty much every week, cause he cant actually really see whats coming and the fuckin drivers cudent give a shit whether he crosses or not. does make you feel good, but then the happiness is blown out by a burning rage towards drivers on my road as i want to drag them from there cars and break there legs. I fight the urge though.
gave my willy what it wanted
then the cheeky little tnuc spat at me

I feel inadequate as a human being after this thread.

i actually do random good deeds that like....someone said earlier...most would probably not consider good deeds cuz they seem so minor. like stepping to the side so someone could pass...holding the door for someone....getting up from my seat on the bus or train....giving some spare change or a cigg....
or for example today i went to visit my aunt....she can be kinda annoying at times cuz she calls a lot, and wants me to visit all the time...and i kinda went without her expecting me, and i can tell she enjoyed my company...even though we didnt talk much, just the fact that someone was there to keep her company....i know it made her feel good. and im glad for that...
sometimes you have to look deeper into what you are doing to find true compassion....it could be in a place you would never expect....
