How exactly is your trakmaster routed into/out of your soundcard etc?

You mention that you can run 50 or so tracks without running out of cpu power, i run acid with about 15-20 tracks and my cpu is really tight, what are your specs on your desktop pc?

Also what type of screen are you using for your pc?, I find it hard operating my work through my small screen im using atm

sorry the screen i use is a standard 17'' one,try expanding the mixer page and flick between them makes it much eaiser to navigate around the track

i have a very low budget 2 channel phonic mixer with ins and outs.

Output from the pc into the mixer then out of the mixer into the focusrite and then back to the mixer from the focusrite and into the pc to record the audio.

I was diagnosed with a serious health problem last year and have been recieving treatment which is still ongoing.

I missed a few gigs last year which i was gutted about,but im on the way to recovery and fighting fit these days.

ok for instance i might go to a charity shop or somewhere with a good supply of cheap 2nd hand vinyl and buy the lot for about 50p.

then go home and look for brass samples,chords,vocal snippets,drum rolls ambience etc.

some of the best vinyls to watch out for are the ones that are orchestral or old movie soundtracks.

then just record the samples in and manipulate them with reverb and filters,reverse or pitch.

a good example of this is flying lotus that guy is a cut and paste legend!.

sometimes pc music can sound a little digital and the vinyl samples can warm things up a bit.

(im not saying go out and buy a benga tune and rip his drums off by the way)

tempus on my myspace is a good example,ive used 4 different vinyls and take around 40 samples to creat the orchestral sounds.

most of my vinyl is around 15-25 years old and bought from dave dees a second hand shop in york.

I have got to say that space designer in logic 8 is mega nothing touches it for quality the reverbs are best quality ive ever heard.

the korg ms2000 i have has a vocoder and that can produce some really interesting stuff when you put bass guitars through it or rhodes etc.

i fiddle lots

Big up, Man of my own heart, sold mine a year ago, wish I hadnt now, oh well.

Its just really retro and warm and a good starter synth aswell,before that i had a roland sh101 which was very cold and harsh but great at make arps.
I do love analog and wish i had more cash to get more because there are so many synths i neeeeeeeeed!

haaaaaaaaa well i think mostly from djing i think like building a set,the same applies to a track you wanna build things up in a tracks and not be too obvious.

listening to a tune around 500 times is a must and have a dance to it yourself i guess.

depends on influences i guess more often than not.

It's used a lot in minimal house this too love the organic sounds.

theres also a tb404 a free dload which i recommend for the deep soulfull sounds,its just a filter but has various stages and well worth checking out.

Yes i do think about vinyl but only for my own use as a dubplate,if a tune gets released then thats heavy.

I just use use layers with wobble i have hi,mid,low then a massive amount of eq.

i hardly use compression either i think that can muddy a bassline up.

ill try and take some screen shots tonight and post them up for people wanting to create a velocity based wobble rather than lfo

Very true. Compression can wreck a bassline .. I suppose it's about having it clean and master ready in the first place.

I do layer my basses but haven't got it down perfectly yet.. Then again I don't have monitors. Must get some.

How about cutting your drums through? Any whizz methods?
