I think every1 below formulas post went a little too far. tho true what you said plastician, that was just his perspective of the night.
he wernt gunnin ur set, but people have their preferences.
You can't have an entire night of wobbly basslines - if thats how you are pigeonholing what you believe to be dubstep.
and no he didn't pigeonhole jack, so dont try comin down on people like dat.

respect 2 wat u do and u play big sets n that. but if dats wat he thought its what he thought. still

???

El-B??? GRIME???

I think you're narrowing your dubstep boundaries a little too much. As far as grime goes I was the only DJ to play any that night and even my set was more than 50% dubstep including some tracks which helpled shape the scene.

Diversity in sound is what makes FWD the night it is today. 3 years ago a club full of attitudes like yours would have killed the night off. Luckily there are a lot more open minded people in the community now and we're able to push things forward.

You can't have an entire night of wobbly basslines - if thats how you are pigeonholing what you believe to be dubstep. I'm not sure how long you've been listening to dubstep but the music El-B played was pretty much THE sound which made dubstep what it is today.

Sorry to get on my soapbox - everyone's entitled to an opinion, I just wanted to share mine.

Having been going to FWD>> not even as a DJ but for a punter since the very first night it happened, I think its at its healthiest point ever right now - and I'm sure anyone else in my boat would agree that things are definitely moving forward right now. Getting anal about what is and isn't allowed to be played there would take us back to the days when Hatcha got caned on dubplate net forum for playing too many Benga tunes - in those days it was labelled "8 bar" and the purists got very silly about it. Imagine today's scene without Benga?? Its a ridiculous attitude to have, just let the experimental sounds nurture themselves and let the DJ's express themselves and we'll be in for a very interesting movement.

I hope i'm not chatting shit - I just get heated when I see comments like that. I thought we moved away from that argument a good 3 years ago![/b]

Big up Plastic! FWD is all about keeping an open mind!

"Diversity in sound is what makes FWD the night it is today."

2 true!

Big up all cru!

I can understand your point, point taken also.

I didn't mean to sound like I was coming down on the guy, I just couldn't understand what he meant when he wrote that N Type played the only dubstep of the night. He probably played the most dubsteppy set of the night - thats not to argue.

I just wondered what his idea of dubstep was.

I'm not hating the guy or trying to belittle him - his opinion is as valid as any.

I just think its a bit narrow minded to demean anyone playing anything other than the purest of dubstep. I love dubstep as much as the next man - and I really enjoyed N Type's set a lot too. I just think grime, breaks - anything with a decent bassline has a home at FWD.

I want to apologise if I offended anyone in that post - I don't mean to sound high and mighty or anything. I just know how scared I was to drop anything slightly grimy the first time I played at FWD all those years ago.

The night has come on leaps and bounds now - making it a great place to DJ and to go to for a night out. I think it would be a great shame to taint it so its a pretty touchy subject for me.

Once again apologies. I don't think my opinion is better than anyone elses, just wanted to get my point across as strongly as possible.

This is a forum and constructive comments & conversations are essential to keep things vibrant. I remember when Oris Jay dropped DJ Luck & MC Neat - With A Little Bit of Luck at FWD... It went off! Anything goes if your brave enough to throw it down! Fuck pigeons and their friggin holes!
