Absolute scare mongering. This will go the same way as avian flu.
What was quit sad and desperate was the governments advice to cover ones face when either sneezing or coughing. Yeah, coz we need lessons on manners from the fucking government dont we.We all learnt this when we were chilfren It's the actions of a government in it death throws trying to remain relevant.

If you're neither elderly, nor infant you have like zero percent chance of dying from this. Fucking hell, if you live in any non third world country right now there are more than enough vaccines to control a widespread outbreak of this. They already know how to treat it.

p.s. Swine Flu has been around for a long long time in humans. It's nothing new, just the spread of it has been blown up by the news. Once someone tests positive for this specific flu and they start tracking stats it stands to reason they will catch more cases of the specific flu once they are looking for the specific strain get me?

At any point in time there are a lot of people who have/have had it. Now they are looking for it so they are finding it. Shocker. But we'll sell you this cure...

yes, plus the fact that they don't want to be accused of inaction should this go to full blown pandemic. after things like katrina, sept 11th and the london tube bombings, both our governments don't want to be caught with their pants down, so their way of covering themselves is to go into panic/hypemode. the media loves this too , because its just more ad revenue and 24 hour relentless overload.

The Food and Drug Administration authorized certain emergency uses of antiviral drugs and tests in connection with the swine flu outbreak, officials at the Department of Health and Human Services said.

The orders signed early Monday, called Emergency Use Authorizations, permit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to diagnose swine flu using a test that has yet to be formally approved by the FDA.

The test is available only in a few government laboratories, and will be used mostly to review samples sent by state or local health authorities. It isn't designed for widespread use at clinics or ports where travelers are screened.

Another authorization signed Monday allows physicians to give a widely used drug, Tamiflu, to children less than one year old. Tamiflu is not approved for such infants. The order includes FDA guidance to doctors on dosing levels for infants. Tamiflu is made by Roche Holding AG.

The third emergency authorization allows the inhalant Relenza, made by GlaxoSmithKline PLC, to be used in treating suspected cases of swine flu and dispensed to patients in hospitals.

The emergency authorizations signal the FDA's concurrence with the CDC's actions during the swine flu outbreak, which helps protect the government, doctors and hospitals from medical and legal challenges, as well as some liability claims.

Find me a random forum where I can pretend to be a crazed christian nut who has 'had it up to here with these flying pigs', misinterpreting 'swine flu' as 'swine flew' where I will go on long rants about the dangers of modern science for creating flying pigs in Mexico that have since crossed the oceans by exclaiming 'YOU JUST HAD TO PLAY GOD, DIDN'T YOU?
