The stuff from these years will always be what dubstep is about for me.

Started to make sense with a DJ Remedy breakstep mixtape from late 04:
Plasticman (sic) Camel Ride
Horsepower Productions Marseilles Connection
Loefah Bombay Squad
Wunder Arabian Knights
Mark one Tribesman
Kode 9 Swarm
Mark One Too Hard
Wizzbit Breakdown VIP
Benny Ill & Dinesh On tha run
Horsepower Productions Synbad
Benny Ill & Dinesh Sholay
Mark One Bad Mood
Kode 9 Sub-Kontinent
Loefah Fire elements
Horsepower Productions Classic deluxe
Digital Mystiks Awake
Kode 9 Dislocated

Just got better after that,
particularly after hearing Quiet Storm, D1, Skream, ZB....
peaking musically in 06 (scenewise 07) imo.

i used to do top tens back in 06' on this site. in the end it became a nightmare to do, as the sound was growing so fast in 06', and people were more and more reluctant to give out top tens. so i scrapped the idea completely.
now it serves as a nice memory lane for everyone, which was my original intention from day one of doing it. i knew that we'd be looking back at that year in amazement, and here we are doing exactly that. revisionism and nostalgia.

monthly top tens from June 2006 to March 2007

those 2 grime LPs one Reflex were so good, defo got me in to the deeper sound that i was leaning towards from some things i'd already heard.

All started after seeing Vex'd playing out in Amsterdam at a Planet MU label night. After that came the Dubstep Wars mix @ MAH's show. From that moment on it went so fast...

Tracks like Distance's 'Nomad' or 'Swarm', Toasty's 'The Knowledge', Loefah's remix of S&D's 'Candyfloss', Skream's 'Bahl Fwd' or his album and of course Vex'd album are definately most influencial to me...
Meditatin' on soundwaves..

surprised on a few of those choices tbh, i always think of 2005 as the halfstep/loefah year. yet no mention at all...

Burial only 3rd in best newcomer as well.
