The problem with legalising even just weed is that you then legitimise the operations of some seriously shady (and rightfully illegal) underworld organisations. This then offers them a legal way of making funds to channel into other more serious criminal activity. And if there were legal vendors established, you would still have organisations selling it illegally at a cheaper price etc.
I'm not sure they would even want it to go legal, they'd make far less without the premium put on it now.

It's just "war on some drugs" as Robert Anton Wilson PBUH would say.

Lets not forget, much less death from overdose. If it is regulated and sold legaly everyone knows the strength and purity of what they are getting and can have tight dosing regiems.
99.9% of accidental overdoses, especially opiate overdoses are due to unknown potency. Suckin up a shot of the same amout of brown you always use, just so happens this shit fucks you up big time. Nod. Nod. Dead.

Legalise. Educate. Regulate.
I find it hillarious with regards to politicians using the "gateway drug" excuse. This is reality. If weed is illegal, you have to deal with drug dealers to procure it. Drug dealers have other drugs. You are therefore exposed to other drugs and have the opportunity to take something else.
If weed was legal, you would buy it at your local shop and not be exposed to drug dealers and harder drugs.
Problem solved. But apparently this is too much for your average politician to grasp.

The reality is, if weed was legalised, the use of other drugs would drop dramatically.

Ecstasy is a hell of a drug, and isn't all that serious, unless you're one of the unlucky few who lack the enzymes to break it down or drink too much or too little water like that Leah Betts girl.

E doesnt work on me anymore. Back in 2001 I tripple dropped 3 times (9 Pink Champagnes) in one night. It broke something in my brain and I blacked out on the dancefloor. Ever since then, E's just put me to sleep. They don't get me high at all....

Its quite easy to lose the magic with MDMA.
Give it a year or two, drop a pill and you'll be FUCKED.
Still even when I left a couple of months recently its still never gunna be the same as before.

If you take a shitload you fuck your serotonin transporter + receptor proteins.
Serotonin is up there in the most important neurotransmitters in your body.
Figure it out. Its not a clever thing to do, we just all do it.

You see me!
I and I will never fight down,
Anything created by the Most High.
And you see marihuana,
It was a plant created by God.
Some say dem love God,
But dem nuh love marihuana,
How could that be?
Are you crazy!?
Are you crazy!?
So if you feel away about the herb,
Let it be positive all the time.
If you feel away about the herb,
Remember that its creation divine.
