KazaDubstep would you be willing to share how the heck you make that sound in the first song in your signature, one of my favorite producers http://soundcloud.com/cheshire/the-place-to-be-test makes it sound so wonderful and i think you have found it.. thanks for the feedback!KazaDubstep wrote:@MRP5
Leaving For Mars - Felt like it droped a little abrupt. Should leave some space before the drop just to give it that extra edge. I'm kind of a synthesis freak so I would suggest trying to beef your synth/bassline up and give it some more character. Great melody though, nice drum work, percussions were nice. Keys that droped in at the build-up for the 2nd drop were spot on. The mix down could use some work as well, but as this is just a clip of a WIP so just gunna disregard that

i adjusted a few things individually and the master/output as a whole. it definitely helped a bit. as for the snare, i added a touch of distortion, some more compression and experimented with flux's bitter sweet plug in. it cuts through much better now. i appreciate the input! im going to bring the first drop down a bit, i think its a bit much now. than the whole track as a whole. thats if my gf lets me have the night off from her hahah.mmmsure wrote:@filthy_ i think you need to beef up your drums a bit mainly the snare.. plus the levels of the intro etc and subbass are quite different would either bring the rest up a bit or the bass down... i like the subbass though !

i added some melody after where this update was last. check it out. description belowwwwww

ogunslinger - the bubbly stuff in the beginning seems a little bit odd to me and feels a little bit out of place. but that drop is a masterpiece... absolutely brilliant. make it a bit louder without ruining the clarity as the vocals over it are overpowering it a lot and it feels like its out of place again. good work though, i dig it.
rightontime27 - why are you asking for feedback?! great tune you have there man, i wouldnt change anything.
Coreygoesrawr - i think it would sound so much better with a higher pitched snappy snare but thats just me. and turn the volume up on the drums as well and maybe some reverb on the snare and bass.
________________________________________
okay, heres my update. louder, a bit more balanced, more musical and (imo) better all around.
i added the piano part on the fly. i was just mucking around and thats what i came up with. its not finished as i want something in the upper octaves playing a fast paced melody. the drop. the big booms were samples of a grenade exploding. i couldnt make my sub bass boom like that without it clipping like crazy. i wanted it a bit filthy with some actual melody and this is what i came up with.

p.s. ive gotten pretty good with those robot type sounds. expect a wacky robostep track soon

@ zeuz - Sounded nice but went on a little too long? Maybe shorten it a little? Also it'd be nice if you could post embedded soundcloud links on here.
@ MRP5 - I think what Kaza said was exactly what I was going to say, it drops abruptly, but the second buildup is amazing. Keep working on it.

@Boogie Monsta
No Escape - Very industrial vibe to the tune and original. Maybe change up the breaks sample a little but here and there, even try to add a few gliches? As you said, mixdown could use some work, but it's just a work in progress, Keep flowin ur own style on this one, like where it's going. Great job for a first tune. Interested to hear how it'll sound when it's finished.
@Nicorisone
Future Wars - Nice chilled vibe for sure... great work there, keep at it on that track
@sinister87
Bass Trade - Reminds me of a filthy Joker for some reason haha. Maybe incorporate some percussions to make the track sound a little more full. The synthesis/bassline side of the track could use a little more umph, and I would boost the sub a little more (mix down / processing stuff). Really all that caught my ear, interested to see where you take it.
@haggardy
Bycicle - Try the tip I tossed to Filthy_. About lowering everything (possibly EQing if you need it) and going off 1 sound to fit everything else around that. Post up a bigger clip when you've finished some more of it!
@Filthy_
1-13 - Liked the keys ALOT in that tune... As you said it clipps pretty hard. That could just be because all of your other instruments are a little too high or need EQing so they're cancleing out your basslines/synthesis. Try to turn everything all the way down on your mixer and get a kick or something to a level you'd like, then start mastering things off of that 1 instrument so everything flows nicely togeather.

Re: WORKS-IN-PROGRESS for JANUARY, 2011
Process it through external filters, fx, distortions, EQing, etc... It can give your sound loads of edge and lota character (it won't be an overnight thing where you make an awsome 'wobbulz' by tomorrow. But with practice and persistance you can achieve some big sounds
) splitting it into the freq. ranges can be nice as well. That way you can keep your sub clean while processing your mids / highs. End resault is a very nice bassline that sounds as 'one sound' if ya get me

Re: WORKS-IN-PROGRESS for JANUARY, 2011
FYI I am commenting as I listen. so if my feed back seems odd its just cause I am writing as I am listening to each track
ogunslinger - the transition is so extreme from intro to the drop maybe hit the first part of the drop with the a part of the vocal cause I was like WTF happened but then as you get more into the dubstep you bring the vocals back and it sounds decent. Def needs some good fine tuning like you said. interested to hear more.
RightOnTime27 - Ultra slow step. typically not my style but doesn't mean its not good. Snare isn't cracking enough for me. I feel these types of tracks you should have that real nice bangin bright snare. but that is just my opinion. The patches for bass are pretty basic. keep at it
CoreyGoesRawr - pump that snare. more layers maybe one with reverb make that shit hit harder its to short IMO. everything else is decent def got something going. Maybe add a little musical element some synth or pad work to it.
eldoogle - got that hollow snare vibe goes good with the intro. Some quality elements in there. extra long intro though and the wobbles just kinda come outta no where on the intro maybe have something sweep into it. not bad roll out them hats a little more to build up a little speed. Some triplets and a variation of different hats in one loop if that makes sense.
Steeple - first off love the intro any intro that uses different percussion elements makes me happy. now I am listening to the drop and its deep. I like the kick its beautiful. Good sample usage. Lvoe what you got so far.
Nacklewicket - Love the natrual kick instead of synthetic sound. drums sound like a real drum kit. nice and deep againand def got it rolling good. now the haunting synth is coming in and its that much better. def like this one!!! with the reverse cymbal to that sample was nice. the wobbles aren't my fav for that style but still good!!! I like it
MRP5 - Intro melody is real nice. Not feeling your drums at all. the sound way to smashed. You just need a quality mix. the epicness style of the track is there good synth work and good bass work but like I said its smashed all together in the mixdown.
We BANG- your track fucking blows man.....oh wait that's me hahaahh. Just kidding
my tracks on page 19 or 20 if anyone wants to give me some feed back

Is it better? I took the smaller intro, triplet drums and eq more as well as small fixes n stuff.

Ijust noticed that the drop with no drums the wobble is faster then when the track drops....so it loses the feeling. you think its gonna be the same speed and it slows down.

Re: WORKS-IN-PROGRESS for JANUARY, 2011
@filthy Liking the sounds that's coming out of your track, although it feels altogether a little bit messy and muddy (particularly at the first drop). I think maybe the reverb of the drums may be clashing with a lot of the low frequencies, you could maybe take out low cut the reverb on a send channel or possible low cut the bass as much as you can?
However, seriously loving the piano. The buildup to the second drop is sick bro, love how you bring the midrange sound from the intro back into it. Couldn't help notice the clipping when the crash occurs though... but that'll all improve when you get to the mixing.
Good stuff mate
@Boogie Monsta Some heavy stuff, like the ambience in the beginning. Don't really know what to say, like the vibe coming out of it. As you said, a mixdown could help it, the beats could vary up a bit as well (glitching it could help it, I think someone else may have mentioned it.)
@eldoogle Big ups for makin a tune that long, I can't persist with anything for more than 2 hours. The tracks pretty chilled, sounds like something missing half the time. The bass wobble is a bit generic sound for my liking, but that's preference I guess and you've done a good job on automating it as well. I think you should probably mix up the beat a bit, the reverse rash on every quarter note becomes a bit repititive.
Now for my track... I'll probably keep it short because I unable to find any ideas to lengthen it.

Re: WORKS-IN-PROGRESS for JANUARY, 2011
@ Projekt - owl - electricity nice and chilled, dkick and snare could have a bit more impact as the tracks quite minimal thats quite important. Maybe a tad more reverb as well to make things gel together as at the moment it doesnt really feel like it sits in a space. got some good ideas in there, i like your sound except for the harsh sounding high pitched thing flying about over the top.
@suly its a sick track mate, not really into all the mid range usually but its well produced, felin the glitchy voices!
@PHenlight yeh man sounds good, nice clean bassline althouh could do with some subtle movement in it., nice pads although could do with something to fattent htem a tad verb orchorus or delay etc. Think it needs to get moving a bit faster unless you want it to stay that pace the whole way through, maybe some percussion to drvie things along. as someone else said, it feels a bit empty.
@mrp5 absouletly love the slightly detuned synth you got in your intro, sounds so nice. Needs a better transiition into the drop though so your wobbles will have some impact. The only thing i can say about uit is give them wobbles a bit more meat, and maybe switch up the sounds a bit to make it more interesting, love the musical bits.
NonXero yes mate, sounds good, like the blend between those harsh soudning dubstep synths and the soft reggae stabs and vocals, works pretty nicely, could maybe fuck around with delay a lot more to keep it dubby! the bass maybe needs to be a bit tighter, reign it in, reggae tracks tend to have an on pioint bassline i reckon. nice work overall tho.
Heres mine, drummo tempo, not really sure what its all about, would appreciate feedback and criticiism.

@rubicon Good vibes of this man. Some nice sounds in there. Real chill, love it.
@nonXero man this is AWESOME. lovely bass. Love reggae
@MexicanKangaroo Aww man you need to take a break and think maybe, but come back to this. I'm not so keen on the bass tbh, but the song in general, the whole feel, is awesome.
Heres a work in progress I'm doing atm as a collab with Genophonics:
