Re: OUTLOOKERS
Was quality.....best festival I've been to I reckon (and I've been going to festivals for more than 15 years). Anyone who is in any way into bass music should go, so much amazing stuff, even if you're not into the music its an amazing location- like the sort of place you walk around with your mates stoned saying how good it could be to have a rave/festival there- they've only gone and done it!
Only slightly bittersweet thing for me was I don't really feel any of the big dubstep stuff any more, nothing really that original or exciting, and quite a lot of shit...N-Type playing Bass Cannon, Sweet Shop and that shitty Dr P tetris tune, and Plastician doing similar was really disappointing. Even thought some of the Coki bits were sounding like copies of Spongebob- loved it 4 or 5 years ago but re-hashing it now it doesn't sound that impressive any more.
Shogun Audio through Saturday night did it most for me-dancing pretty much non-stop at their stage from 10-5 and was up for more, completely ignored wanting to go anywhere else. Commix, Icicle, Alex Perez, Spectra Soul, Rockwell, D-Bridge, SP:MC and Stamina MC were all amazing.
Moment of the festival was Jamie XX finishing his set with this:

Re: OUTLOOKERS
suffering from the croatian dust as we speak, just got a monster bloody nose!
anyhow, as always, music was unbeatable, caught incredible sets every night out.
thursday ikonika and ruckspin had to be my favorites, the bass in the main fort stage was TOO much and was vibing on ruckspin's selections in the ballroom.
friday, was really feeling silkie vs quest at dmz, honestly the crowd got to be too much for me as the night went on though. a mix of aggro fuckers at the front and feeling like i was in a giant khole with the rest, plus the sheer size of the crowd. now that i think of it the whole festival was a bit too drugged out for me this year, swear it was far worse than last year, or perhaps my expectations were higher having gone last year so i was more aware of it. just don't understand why k is a drug of choice at a festival of electronic music that goes on til sunrise... last thing i want to do is make myself fall asleep! instra:mental were exactly that, mental, again in the fort stage where the system was absolutely having it. big up the soundboys and ladies, really good sound all around (except for maybe the dungeon, which is understandable). especially impressed by the acoustics in the moat given the size and shape of the space.
saturday had to be my favorite night of the bunch. roska set off the dance at 3, and let's talk about biome for a second. faaaaaaaaaacking RUDE, swear i've never experienced a dubstep set that sinister and crisp before. my apologies to anyone whose face i may have gotten in... couldn't handle myself really. the crowd was absolutely going off too, could almost see the vibes going around. felt sorry for anyone stuck outside in the queue--quite a problem this year for any of the stages inside the fort proper. good idea on outlook's part to put the bigger acts in the open areas by the harbor, but this festival was seriously oversold and it's a shame that it took away from the smaller, community atmosphere i dug so much last year. spoke to a croatian friend who often puts on events at the fort and he said the inside word is that the festival will be moved to montenegro next year because organizers and the croatian crew alike agree that the site can't handle the scope of the festival anymore--such a shame.
sunday, tectonic boat party was sick, big up all the ninjas onboard and especially murky for coming round for a chat afterwards! lovely meeting you, many nights to come in london surely. girl unit may have been my second favorite set of the weekend behind biome, every tune was banging and the number of artists i spotted coming round for a dance in the front goes to show how many people were feeling it! bok bok b2b l-vis right before was also a good'un, liked mosca but the MCs weren't really doing it for me. george fitzgerald was also large, nice warm up for the last night of dancing my ass off.
i'm leaving plenty out and it's a bit longwinded already, but i have to say all in all i'm not sure i'll be headed out to outlook again next year. it could be that the move to a new location would help fix some of the infrastructure problems that i'm sure many experienced--like sitting in that boiling sun for two hours in the accommodation box office queue, it's totally unacceptable how slowly that process was moving along--but i would be willing to deal with those inconveniences if outlook maintained the independently run vibes that were about last year. unfortunately, i think the expansion of the festival this year put all of that behind, making it poorly organized and oversized. it could just be that i'm not feeling the get-off-your-nut-every-night mindset at festivals as i've gotten older, but not sure outlook is the one for me anymore. big up the festival organizers for time and time again booking the best lineup in the game, though.
also, lol at prince harry coming this year

Re: OUTLOOKERS
What can I say? 2011 > 2010 big time.
First night, Rodigan came with the education and a big set was loving it as it was my first time really wanted to hear his golden hen live though.
Then Kromestar murked it so hard, some of his new tracks were insane.
Second and best night for me was the DMZ stage at the dockside. I thought they could of had more bass but it was still great once it got cranked up by Tunnidge. Every set was impressive to say the least (maybe not chef vs hatcha so much). But I've never seen a set get laid down like Coki and Malas, jesus the amount of energy and how much the crowd was feeling it was immense. Anyone have any idea how long they actually played for? Feels like they just kept drawing out the bag forever which I was not complaining about. I think my highlight was actually hearing Ruff Loving since I never thought I was ever hear that being played out.
Quest n Silkie killed it, great selection and vibes going down on their set. After Digital Mystikz loe came on and I thought half the crowd would clear because they wouldn't like his new shit. But he started off with a couple of his old tracks cant remember the first one, then he put down Goat Stare and the place went off. Was sick seeing Loefah on a proper old set.
Goth-trad vs Vivek was great too!
Had Deep Medi boat the next day which was fucking sick but hopfully someone else can do a writeup on that I gotta go croatian national park now.

Re: OUTLOOKERS
highlights for me: The whole look of the festival with great artwork everywhere and really nice lighting/visuals on the stages. All my sets (ballroom, black box boat, submotion on mainstage, ranking boat), Jah Shaka & Channel 1 on Mungo's hifi. Iration Steppas both times on Main stage absolute legends. Mad professor with general levy, tippa irie, earl 16 (love that guys voice) and macka b. Seeing the look on my mate's face as he set off on the skream & plastician booze cruise (he was stage managing... more like a club 18-30 rep lol). DLR b2b TC1 at the moat stage with Gusto & Andlar hosting. That set was huge and the arena was IMMENSE. Loxy & ink took it dark and intense afterwards! Gentleman's dub club tearing up main stage looked amazing from my position at the top of the cliff - lightning and thunder on the horizon added to the amazing visuals... Out to the organisers and everyone I chatted to/played with - so many great people

Re: OUTLOOKERS
It was soooooo fucking huge!
the hilights for me where DMZ at dockside, addison groove, captain crunch, l-wiz, the truth and many more.
I met a lot of nice people there, the musical expirience was on a high level. i loved how the wrhole festival was decorated with all these flags n lights.
A funny sorry: i went to sleeped in my hammock as some english girls where excited about how comfortable this looks. one of them came to me in to it to sleep as well. i was way too fucking tired and passed out to say something so i let her sleep next to me.
after a hour or so she began to move then i whoke up, 5 mins later it got all warm arround me and i jumped right out as i felt that he pissed her pants and my fucking hammock. ooooh ghosh :'D
i washed it and dry it and couldn't get any good sleep that night.

Re: OUTLOOKERS
I'm still here
been amazing. Fuck litterbugs though. My highlights were; Kode9, The Dock for basically all of Saturday, and Truth was decent too. Fort arena was my fav along with the ballroom. Didn't meet any ninja though

Re: OUTLOOKERS
Bass was too high for that whole area throughout, couldn't hear anything else. Some poor soundboy business just cranking it up far as possible.soul dead wrote:bass was too high on kode9's set.
And yeah, big up Ruckspin, the Submotion show was all good. Silkie and Quest were quality too.
Re: OUTLOOKERS
god damn it, did it again, started drinking far too early and was in bed by about 1-2 oclock everynight! what music i did catch was all on point but tbh it was more about being in the sun with all my mates, so many top people out there! far too many people and the 2 seperate areas (fort and the dock) made it near impossible to find anyone though. highlights were the moat and getting to play on a boat party

absolutely agree, wasn't drinking much but was in bed round 2 oclock. it's hard to stay up when you're already at the fort at 6pm loldubloke wrote:god damn it, did it again, started drinking far too early and was in bed by about 1-2 oclock everynight! what music i did catch was all on point but tbh it was more about being in the sun with all my mates, so many top people out there! far too many people and the 2 seperate areas (fort and the dock) made it near impossible to find anyone though. highlights were the moat and getting to play on a boat party
Re: OUTLOOKERS
Will write more when not as fucked, but outlook was a sweet festvial, had an awesome time, met some sweet sweet people, sick acts - goth trad b2b vivek, hijaks jungle set, david rodigan, icicle b2b alix perez and deep medi boat party were my highlights. wish i spent more time up at the fort, but a lot of what i wanted to see was at the main stages - i think if they were a bit closer then i would have done a bit more exploring of the smaller stages and seen more acts that way - always next year though!
Only gripe is that the campsite was full of feral feral chavs - learn to pick up your rubbish, shit in a toilet and do not piss or shit outside my tent! Actually broke my heart to go down to the beach yesterday and see broken cups and all sorts completely covering the beach
that place is paradise and its a shame that we don't seem to respect that enough to make an effort to walk to a rubbish bin to dispose of our trash (also think this was also an event management issue with not enough bins around).
/end rant.
BUt yeah fucking sweet festival, had a rad time and now i need to de-dust my clothes and coma out for a while

Re: OUTLOOKERS
bus pickup was kinda badly organised too. I had a confirmation and everything but I wasn't on the list, there were probably 60 others that weren't on the lists either. was a massive chaos at Marco Polo, got sorted after I payed 45€ again which got refunded a couple of days later. that's fine but still shouldn't happen, those transfer ladies were highly incapable.
Re: OUTLOOKERS
Yeah the amount of litter is a total joke. There is no excuse at all.
Re: OUTLOOKERS
they should organize trashcans on every 25 meters... sorry, i actually didn't know where to trhow my waste. and i'm not willing to take it home :S it's sad.autobot wrote:Will write more when not as fucked, but outlook was a sweet festvial, had an awesome time, met some sweet sweet people, sick acts - goth trad b2b vivek, hijaks jungle set, david rodigan, icicle b2b alix perez and deep medi boat party were my highlights. wish i spent more time up at the fort, but a lot of what i wanted to see was at the main stages - i think if they were a bit closer then i would have done a bit more exploring of the smaller stages and seen more acts that way - always next year though!
