IMO the artists from room 1 and 2 should be mixed around a bit, put coki on after doctor P and give the kids a bit of bassweight education
you're not wrong, you're just an asshole

tbh i reckon out of everyone coki would be best to put on in that kind of 'hype' room. im not exactly in touch with this kind of group but surely they'll be able to appreciate some of his stuff?

Been reading over the thread for a while got a few thoughts:

1. With regard to the line-up it doesn't necessarily cater for all of the genre but that rarely happens. But i was expecting a little more variation than what has been booked. Fair does alot of dj's may have already been booked for other events but then surely the organisers if its going to be such a big event would have booked the artists well in advance?

2. That brings me to my second point, if its going to be such a big event then if youre booking through coda and other agencies then they can offer you deals if you book like a certain few artists they would have thrown in others at a cheaper price. Then theres the case of economies of scale if you've got all these artists being booked you can surely lower your costs with larger output, thus lowering the cost of the ticket because in all honesty £30 for ANY night is abit ridiculous. Lovebox is £28 for a day ticket and thats got quite a varied line-up even if youre not just there for bass music.

3. The fact that your calling it "the dubstep music awards" isn't too great either because to the majority of people who aren't well too informed they'll be thinking "oh so if dj joe bloggs" won best dj therefore he must be the best dubstep dj. When this is not entirely true as everyone has a different opinion which makes the genre and forums such as dsf so great. So be specific to what your award is, on dsf theres the dsf dubstep awards. I don't know what you'd call it but please don't generalise.

4. Fair play to you trying to make an event as this, but if you'd conducted it in a better manner then i doubt you'd get as much of a backlash as you've had. Even though it is your first year of doing it, if it is a success then i hope in years to come youre able to diversify the line-ups and give either a lower price or more value for money. As the future does not too bright for the economy so if you continue to charge this high fee a large amount of people may be turned away despite booking a more diversifiable line-up
Its still 2006

scoured the FB wall, typical responses really. surprised at the amount of people who seem to think Example is a dubstep artist though.

So I finally decided to step in here. In short, here is my list of opinions, comments and remarks:

1) Zomby showing up for this? I highly doubt it. What is he doing in room 3 also? Seems a bit out of place really. Also, I doubt he'd play "dubstep" even if he showed up.

2) I agree that this is a fairly balanced line-up. There should be something for everyone.

3) Do we really care who's on top of the flyer ie headlining this event? From a commercial point of view, they're entitled to put the most economically viable names (ie hype) on top of the bill right? It's not like this was a big surprise anyway... I don't see the point in mixing up the line-ups as that will generate a lot of people moving through the venue following their preferred style.

4) The entrance fee: outrageous indeed. But I doubt they'd ask that much if people weren't ready to pay for it. Moreover, we can see the names we want, yes even I in Belgium, for a third of the price or less on numerous occasions. Events that showcase only the music we like. So just skip this event if you think the prices are outrageous. You'll get to see the names you like in an arguably better setting, surrounded by a better crowd and at a fairer price sooner or later right?

5) I hope we'll have our own little award thing just the same as each year. I do my own "awards" on my own blog each year, with a very different outcome still from the DSF awards. Perhaps only a dozen people will read that...but these are people we reach. Who cares about some commercial organisation proclaiming authority. Let the kids have their event. We know, we were there and we'll continue to spread our side of the story.

Hope the event goes well.I'm sure a few kids will wonder into room II and discover something new! And the other ones will probably have a tear-out blast, to which they are entitled...but for that price, they better party hard!
Bigup Tunnidge, good idea on the charity thing! To those disheartened or disappointed by all this, fear not: we'll have our say!

5) Dubstep Awards, I am feeling the resentment towards this title by certain people. Indeed, who has the rights to proclaim such a thing. The real heads will know though, stuff the awards, we all have our own opinions and we know who's deserving of praise and who's not. You have blogs, facebook, you meet people in real life: You can do your part to show and educate them on this genre without acknowleding the authority of some event. People who see this event as a true authority aren't even worth our time if you ask me. If you think this project is pretentious and commercially based, forget it and do your own thing and let them have their glory.

The way you've presented this whole shitstorm is offensive. The DSF awards got plenty of abuse at the time, but at least they were presented in a slightly tongue-in-cheek way. You're basically a purely commercial operation but you are ashamed to admit it.

Kind of playing with words here because if its your view or next mans you still call it THIS which says to me this is what Dubstep is. So you just have a problem with the word THE?!
Your missing my point.

So who ever wins "Best DJ" at this event is the best DJ in Dubstep right?
.....Absolutely not.

it could have been far more credible.
Nah matey I just spazzed up... I didnt click that DMA was actually Dubstep Music Awards, thought it was just their name hence why I thought whats the difference in "get darker" and "DMA", both of you are using the word Dubstep BUT it didnt click that DMA stands for what it is lol... I was thinking why on earth cant he get my point! My apoligies mate! Like a fool I just didnt see it but to be fair I had only had 4hrs sleep after Wireless ;P

Still dont agree in the hostility DMA recieved but thats just me, I will prob just never get the Hype Vs Deep beef! I love both n cant see why others dont!

Are these awards just for 2011 or what? Because people on that facebook group are suggesting some seriously old tracks for awards.
