I really like the track you have posted up here. Loving the moving sine bass and creepy organ thing if thats what it is supposed to be. Just a wee bit of variation on the rhythm is the only constructive criticism I could give. It sounds well produced to my ears too. Great track

Thank you very much for the feedback. I really am embarrassed I didn't have better percussion variance on my tracks I did spend time working out those vocals and the ambiance but really, from jungle to dubstep you cannot take drums lightly...

@Grooki: I really love the minimal style on this track. Really cool sounds. It sounds big and small at the same time which is a difficult thing to get across in a mix. Its nice hearing something other than standard drums and wobz that I hear a lot in this thread

wow this is a high impact track! I loved that little bass preview at the start, very nice. I thought the track started very well, really nice groove with the drums, and the super grotty bass works well. They groove for the first section is great actually, and one thing which I thought could make it even groovier was to have silence at the end of maybe every second bar, or at the end of a measure. You do sort of have silence, but there is still some reverb in there - if it was total silence for that split second before the kick it would be BAM! I like the lead in to the break too, and very nice ambience in the break (well the quiet bit). I thought though after the break the track lost it's way a little. It's unclear that we've moved into a distinctly different groove, or have we returned to the initial part, or what? I know maybe that's the effect you were looking for though, so if it was, ignore what I just said! Then after 2:40 it picks up again. So all I could suggest is *maybe* adding a couple of small break downs as it comes to the end of a measure or something like that, so that it isn't too fatiguing, and at the same time when the huge sound comes back in it's like "yeah!". Great job!

oohh nice snippy drums! I like snippy. I have to get used to the dischord, pretty wierd! Good though. Mega wobbles! I have to say I am not the biggest fan of wobbles, I do like some tracks, but it depends (just so you know, I'm biased!). I think you have done a good job in getting a number of different wobbles in your b-line. Some are great. A couple aren't so clear, but I think that's ok in this context. I think your drums get lost behind the wobbles quite often, which I think you don't want. You want the kick snare to keep punctuating the wall of the sound, which makes it funky - especially since your drums are very good. But that's just a matter of examining your eq and volume levels again. Overall I think you did a good job with this, the structure is good and the wobbles are crazy! And coming to the end of the track I think the bells are great

A Dubstep production forum that I've been using for 800 posts/a year longer than you, I think I have the right to post what I like son, and I'm pretty sure the genre of this track is Dubstep, more so that your most recent track in fact so stop being a hypocrite.
Nobody 'kills' Dubstep, there's branches of different types and it will continue to evolve, grow, freeze up, be hated, be loved, come back in the 2060's... Just like any genre. Don't be so naive.
If you want to bitch at somebody for making Dubstep available to the commercial public, then you should be bitching at the big people such as Skream, Benga, Rusko, N Type, etc. All the people that wanted Dubstep to go mainstream. The mainstream is a good thing for a genre, do some research.

Now this is some quality stuff! Great balance between instruments. Loved the first half, second, not that much... it became too ambient to my taste. If I were to play this in my set, I would only play the first half. That doesn't mean rest isn't good, I just feel it loses the energy somehow. Pure niceness anyway. I'm adding your myspace.

@ whyrez > i like the main groove of your track (but i'm a dubstep bootleg whore usually so maybe i'm biased) but i think it could use more variation in the bassline, or maybe add another synth to complement ur bassline and keep the track interesting

@ kidqw3rty > i like the dub snippets, the only thing is i feel the one at the end of the tracks starts a wee bit too late, kinda doesnt flow right to me (just a subjective opinion tho), also it seems your mix is a bit muddy and lacks of clarity, but i cant really help on how to fix this as i'm not really an expert in that area (check the stickies, especially the one about mixdown and mastering by macc)

There is much good in this one, BUT there is something that I can't really understand. Using roots as element of dubstep is fine. I do it too. But the fact being that you just have a clip of Johnny Osborne's "Fally Rankin" in the intro and middle doesn't strike to me as a really creative thing.

I mean, it would work fine without it, so why make your tune a bootleg without a reason? I would also see it as respecting the original in a way it deserves. (As it is one of my favorite 10" in my collection.)

No hate! Only love, and honest feedback. The tune itself has that nice 8-bit wibe in it. Maybe lacks some "oomph". But still, I love this kind of stuff. Are you familiar with Jahtari? They have taken this 8-bit-reggae-thing really far. You should check them out. Big ups!

much thanks for the feedback...you seem to be pretty knowledgeable about dub, especially since the sample was Johnny Osborne, but wasn't from his record. King Tubby's "the frontline" was what i sampled it from. the reason i sampled it is because its probably my favorite riddim of all time, and i thought the bassline needed to be wobble-fied (i guess whether i suceeded is still up for debate...I'm gonna try to improve it.) I def agree it lacks some oopmh...though to be fair i barely mastered this track, it was kinda a bounce2disk as im running out of the studio deal...need to put on mad effects, maybe some dub echo even. nice to see some people here dig 8bit, im mainly into that sort of thing, ive only started making dubstep recently. again thanks for the feedback, i'll be sure to check yr tracks, maybe hit you up with this track when its fully done (my tracks are never complete!)

That's really good. Dark and gritty without being unpleasant to listen to. Very professional sound, would definately kill on a big system. Send me an 320 and I can test it for you on our sound system, once I put drivers back in. (We just painted the cabs.)
