@Filtersnake - Jesus Christ that was awesome. You really are a touch away from the "making it" category I think. The song rips wonderfully. My ONLY rant is that the drop's energy doesn't perfectly match the energy your intro created. However, it still does mostly feel right to me. Please extend this and finish it. I really think it is a great track.

@filtersnaker - Not really a fan of the snare and the vocals. I really like the overall track though, reminds me a lot of Pretty Lights. :D

@antman - Really nice tune. Loving the panned hat, but try putting some reverb on it and turning the level of it down a notch. LOVE the movement of the bassline, really nice. But, I would love it if you'd make that bassline just a tiny more phat, with some distortion or something. :)

@swaggr - Nice bassline, could be a bit more clear though, but I am guessing you haven't mixed it yet. What I don't like though, is the kick-drum, try changing.. Maybe that's just me. Keep it up man!

So, I am working on some really heavy shit and I am guessing that most of you don't listen to this type of dubstep. I haven't made any intro or breakdown or anything yet. Unmixed, btw. There is probably too much bass, can't tell myself with these headphones...

Filtersnake nice song, but you should work on melody a bit.

DubMikey you need to work on your sound design

DarkDubz very nice dark track, maybe try to wariate slow wobble to 1/8 or 1/16, it will give punch and energy to song.

My WIP

Soundcloud

its just 2 patterns, one more filthy, and high, second is deep and heavy.

@Dark Dubz: Love those midrange reese's. That synth on top is nice too. The atmosphere overall is AWESOME!. Some of the hisses are a bit piercing but that's minor. This track is well mixed and I enjoyed it a lot.

@BaseBass: I really enjoyed the synthesis of the midrange bass sounds. They have a good sense of space to them. I would work on building more contrasting tension in the intro before the drop hits. And to me, personally, the tune moves a bit slow. I'd appreciate a faster groove, but again, just my opinion.

@Electric Head: I just don't get too much into the deep stuff. However, the mix is solid, the atmosphere is legit, and the sub is controlled well (mixed with other elements). Great job. Just not my style.

@Scy7the: The bass sound has a nice metallic (reverbed/delayed) characteristic. The intro has a nice build for a melody, yet you don't continue it in the main idea. For me, I wanted to hear that melody come to life in the drop. If you want this to have a more "drumstep" feel than I suggest a lot more drum fills between the snares. The groove doesn't really swing much.

@Society: Like the groove. Hard to criticize as it's far from my style. I love the use of the stereo field though. Appreciate that big time.

@Swaggr: Love the tune as a whole. Like where it's going big time. Mixdown will give this track what it needs most. As an artistic suggestion, that main synth in the main idea...get's kinda worn out for me. Perhaps take it out at certain times and let it breathe a bit. The second drop is dope, like the riser, but to me sounds like it could be a completely different tune altogether.

@ Filtersnake: I like the un-easyness that the intro has. Kinda eerie tension. The track altogether could use some mixdown work. When the drop comes in, just about all your sounds are clashing in the midrange. I'd like to revisit this tune when I can hear the instruments. There are some wobbles in there that are totally being drowned out. Perhaps some chops to let the track breathe would help as well.

@antman: For me, the rate of the wobble that is used for the main novel element doesn't really do it anymore, no matter how dope the sound is. I appreciate your drum work, but I'd like to hear some melody in there with another bass sound perhaps.

@Dub Mikey: Personally having a bunch of different bass sounds together to make a bassline like this isn't too novel anymore unless of course you can take the arrangement side of things to another level. To me, the sounds could all use more high freq content. The bassline as it stands now, is a bit erratic and I can't tell a main idea. Id like to hear more rhythmic chops in the line to bring a main idea together. Just sounds a bit "disjointed", ya know?

@Crew Cutz: Where's the feedback homie? Provide some and I let you know what's good.

@Filtersnake very nice track mate, your style is unique and dark, the chords are trippy and almost psychedelic like, my only suggestion is too add more variety on your bass drops but Im sure you're on your way on making it more complete? Also you should change the synth of the chords on the drop, the piano/belltype chords for the intro then something more gritty and hands up on the drop to add more shock value in the drop, you're really close to pro quality tracks man, it's dope!

@Dubmikey I personally don't feel that saw buzz bass with the odd notes playing, everything else sounds decent just need more compression and maybe a tiny bit of sample or normal delay to create a wider feel of your synths, everything else sounds like it grooves well though, keep it up mate :)

@Crewcutz cool intro man, I like! the drop is very old school vibe and vibrating heavy and nice, it's good but could use more variations and maybe other basses to create an even more advanced grooved to your beat, the track is very sinister too, reminds me of batman or something I dont knwo why, great track bro

@difference I could imagine this in a movie or videogame of suspense or action, the vibe it brings, especially the beginning, reminds me of max payne lol, nice minimal track man! I would suggest adding more glitchy sound fx and perhaps a few piece of midfrequence on it to great a more creeper and aggressive track? I could imagine some cool sounds going along with this groove. I would also suggest more tops and rhythmic sounds to make it more advanced, unless you are aiming for a minimal track, this track is already in a tight groove

@sunshaft very nice drop man, its so trippy, reminds me of hardstyle meets dubsteps, I would like to hear more variety of basses to compliment your raging groove, I would like to hear a hard snare and also a dark melody or underground melody to go with it or in certain parts of the sequences sparingly to great an interesting vibe, cool track man

@toolman4 cool intro man, im already bopping my head to the start, reminds me of some old school hands up trance, the drop is nice, I would suggest adding an arppegiator in the background for the drop to make a hyper drop, also copy your chords and add an even more aggressive lead to accompany the drops grittiness. love the midfreq bass you have going on too! everything is sounding nice so far, I would like to hear more melody fx and arpeggiators to create a higher energy atmosphere. cool track bro

I haven't made a drop yet but I think it's a decent intro so far, it's inspired by video games and anime, I'm gonna make this an aggressive nuschool dubstep type track this weekend

@filtersnake: the intro is really cool as well as the rest of the track. my only gripe is the initial bass sound at the drop sounds really flat and without character, perhaps try tweaking that patch a bit or maybe adding some movement to it? not necessarily an lfo but just something..

@sunshaft: cool idea, kinda reminds me of like a coki style bass line. seems like the entire track lacks power though. maybe try working on frequency splitting your bass so that you can effect the bands differently so you can get the top end moving but keep the bottom end centered and the middle, well somewhere in the middle :6: . also not sure what drum samples your using but try getting some punchier ones and compressing them but adjust the attack so that the initial transients come through and then squash the rest, this really helps the drums sound punchy.

@dubmikey: i think the arrangement is pretty good and the general sound of the track is pretty good, but i think some of your basses and what not are very very bland sounding. try setting up some fx on sends so that you can effect your sounds in parallel, this will help give subtle character to your sounds.

heres a tune i just started. bass line is only temporary to give some context on the drums and the sounds I'm working on. any feedback is appreciated. really I'm looking for feedback on the sound of the reese. I'm not very good at making reeses.

@terryfunk4life zip song 15 - i really like that. bass line could get proper funky if you do it right. cool idea

@difference nice track mate. definitely needs more in it. more mid range sounds i think you could have so many little bits coming in and out of this. really like the pad at 3.12. i think you could make more use of it. look foward to hearing the rest of that.

@darkdubz - this is cool. only bit i don't really like myself is when you change the drum pattern to have the snare every 2 beats. doesn't suit the track in my opinion. apart from that. play about with the mix a bit. i would probably fuck around with some of the reverb settings on the drums. its cool but i reckon it could be tweaked. really like the sounds you've used. nice

@societyloser1 that is sick mate. couple touches in the mix and a little look at the timing of the kick then you've got yourself a big track. love it

@MassAphekt DUDE!!! I love it. Your melody is awesome. Kind of Ronald Jenkiesish. I listened to it 3 times. I cant wait to hear what comes after that build up.

@antman I love the panning and how it continues throughout the song. Nothing else i could really think to say besides its sick so far.

@Swaggr Pretty damn awesome. That second drop is huge. Only thing i would say is i wish that eyah sound or whatever it is on the second drop was more prominent. I didnt want that song to end.

Sorry if my feedback isnt exactly useful. I try and listen as hard as I can to the songs i choose and tap into what little knowledge I have.

Here is an update of my Meshuggah track. It is still muddy i think. But i changed the intro which will be changed again and I changed the arrangement around.

@ MassAphekt: loving the intro for this. finish it asap please! i am anticipating a drop that isn't there haha! the sounds are spot on. mix is good and clean. i think the riser at the end needs to be louder and put in maybe a snare or kick buildup with filtering going from low to high and i think it would finish it off nicely for the drop!

@gaol that mix down needs a lot of work... If you going for heavy ( which I believe you are ) you don't really want your crashes to louder and more promenent than you bass read the mixdown and mastering sticky

@ehbrums1 - LOVE that jazzy feel it got, really awesome. The drums aswell are just spot on! I feel the drop could be a little heavier and some of the basslines a little fatter. But seriously I LOVE this track, just my kinda thing! :D

@Gaol - Cool stuff. I would definitely change the intro and the kick-drum and some of the basslines sound a bit cheap, try phatting them up a bit with some distortion, I really think that would boost the whole thing. Keep it up! :)

@MassAphekt - Not really what I would normally listen to, but you are definitely on to something. Try making the snare punch in a bit harder. Definitely some potential here!

So I have taken some of your advice to me and changed up lots of things on this one, even added an intro, which isn't done btw.

I know the kicks need to be changed. Im looking for a good kick sample cause i only have the stock ones and some crap ones. I did not know that distortion would make things better so i will look into that. The intro will be changed when i get home. I just put a little progression to start getting ideas of what i wanted. Thanks for the tips. I will put them to use.
