sorry for the lack of detail, the whole song was good but rather plain it just needs some more spicing up. ie pitch bending some parts. the part at 1:27 that synth could use another synth to accompany it also try pitch bending it. you could also have that same sound but slower fade in and out through that bit to. those are just some of my thoughts. hope that helps a bit more.

@Cortex
Thanks for the feedback, I'll give you mine in return.

The climax sounds nice, gives me the same sort of feeling as when I listen to Datsik and Excision, maybe the drums could be tighter / hold more of a punch, the snare/clap sounds a little empty and weak as a result. Maybe the climax could do with some more FX/variation, but that's up to you and what you like to make!
The buildup sounded good as well :) Keep it up!

@ Radiant - Wow! Best song hands down in a long while. Great detail in everything, the drums synths and whatever else. Maybe the lead synth at :55 would be better if it were more unique? Like maybe modulate the pitch a small amount like vibrato. It might not sound good though, you've already got a lot of vibrato in there. You can try it and if it sounds bad, disregard it. If you finish this, could I have a copy?

@ yoitsfrankd - Do you stereo spread or split up your frequencies at all? I think if everything sounded much bigger then this track would kill it. http://durkkooistra.com/2011/03/24/spli ... eton-live/ that article might help you out even though it's for Ableton. Also your drums need to be harder, only a little though.

@ DubMikey - Nice atmosphere, drop is nice but at 1:10 and 1:13 I didn't enjoy the higher notes. Try replacing that with something more creative. Nothing wrong with the clip but when you're working on it make sure it keeps peoples attention.

Here's the second version of Technique. I'll probably add more drums but I thought I'd post it up. Basically I was going for more variation throughout.

Yeah, I've still got quite some dilemma's to work out on that area, the contrast is still too big to make it flow nicely, and the mix-down still needs a lot of tightening from what I can hear, thanks for giving me motivation!

I haven't given my 3rd feedback out yet (Some people didn't read the first post so I'd rather put the effort in people that do :p) so I'll give you mine on your track.

The intro sounds alright in melody, simple but still flowing, could do with some more ambiance though, maybe a pad in the background or anything to fill the silent/empty spots and to keep the flow going.
I like the climaxes and the way they're laid out, and I liked the way the drums came in mid-climax the first time. Overall it could do with some more filling but it's all up to what your style is and what you like to do, hopefully my feedback helps!

Iorek wrote:710- I typically avoid the talking wobs but this track they are actually done very well :W: now exactly at 0:45 you have two kicks they seem to be just a slight fraction too close you might bump the second one notch over and see how it sounds. I wasn't digging the intro honestly but the track is well produced and it seems to fit. :W:
Thanks man, I try to avoid that sound too haha, but I liked the way it turned out so I decided to use it. If I think we're talking about the same thing at :45, those kicks are that close on purpose for a quick ba-dum feel, but I'll switch things around and see if it helps the flow. Tbh, the intro was a rough attempt so I can understand the gripes with it as is haha.

As for your song, I actually like it a lot, but I think those crazy bass sounds tend to sound better stereoized and made huge, the mono bass sounds just dont pack enough punch I think. The drums sound nice, I think you could tone down the snare a bit but everything sounds pretty well mixed around besides.
adover wrote:@710 - "and what of it" - Like the intro, I'm listening at work now but when i was listening on my sennheisers at home I noticed that there was some muddiness in the initial parts in the intro which could do with being cleaned off by using a high pass of some description.

Once it drops though, very nice tune, you've got your basses dialled although I would've personally preferred a hard hitting sub instead of a rim shot - but that's literally a personal preference - the snare still sits well!

Good sound selection, it fits well, maybe work on giving everything a bit more space but other than that it's tight!
Thanks for the feedback! Yeah some of the layered organ-y sounds in the beginning clash pretty hard and I do need to reel them in, but I think its more in the midrange? I'll have to go check it again. And I agree on the space.. it's actually what I'm working on learning the most atm, I always make tracks that feel like your head is inside a box with speakers on every side haha.

When I first listened to your track I wasn't sure how I liked the first bassline, but for a self-claimed old dude its a pretty sweet banger and I actually kinda like that first riff after hearing it all together.. You mod your bass pretty well and keep it interesting the whole time, and the second drop with the snares on 2 and 4 goes pretty hard, by far my favorite part. I can't really tell you much else, it sounds like you know more than me which is a good thing I guess :W:
Crow Steppa wrote:@710- Like the yoi bass, I like the heavier stuff. Solid production all around. What DAW do you use?
Thanks, glad you liked the song. I use FL9 -- but I'll be on ten when I know it's not buggy, haha.

To be completely honest, I don't really like your song :oops: Objectively though, I think you should use some other drum samples--if you really need any I can send some to you. That bass synth sounds pretty sweet but I think you ruin it by stuffing that soulja boy acapella over it. Also, I feel like constant sub just takes the oomph out of using it in the first place, but that's just imo. The EQing is pretty good, but the acapella just seems out of nowhere.. I guess if you wanna use it, cutting the bass to interact with the vocals more might help.
kidstrange wrote:@710 this tracks a talker but well put together not really feeling the intro..i dooo enjoy the sweep around 2:00 suggestions would be to add some other snyths. perhaps a little break down either speed it up or slow it down..if you get what im saying.
Yeah, the intro's kinda thrown in. I'm not sure what you mean about breaking it down cause there's a literal breakdown (in a metal/hardcore sense) in it and just most of the pieces have entirely different feels? :?

I definitely like the outdoor atmosphere you used in your track though, completely makes the song imo. I think a slightly woodier snare might fit well and keep the outdoorsy feeling going, but it's a pretty sick track as it is.. that 'wub-wub' has juuuust the right amount of reverb to let it poke through the mix--you put everything together well.
Cortex wrote:@710 - I'm REALLY feeling this tune. Listened to it at pretty high vol. on my studio monitors and i have to say, that synth is beast. Love it man.
Thanks dude, glad you liked it--the only reason I even wrote it is because I liked where that bass synth ended up haha.

I'm diggin your track, I kinda like some of the more electric sounding synth work, I like the fat beefy snare too. Pretty good mix as far as I can tell too, It'll probably pretty awesome finished ..so uh.. finish it? haha

hudson- lovely chiller vibe on this, really enjoying listening to it. nothing really technical or melodical that i think could be improved on really nice track mate

eldoogle- a bit sparse rhythmically in places, also needs more of a defining melody to the track at times it just feels like a jumble of different wobs with nothing really holding them together in terms of a bassline groove or melody.

yoitsfrankd- make everything hit harder and this will be big. punchier drums and make the bass bigger sounding otherwise its a solid effort man.

heres my recent attempt, hoping for better feedback this time!

@eldoodle - Sick intro/drop... I like the sub alot. after 1:51, not really feeling the notes played, but the arrangement is good. I like the constant drum mix-ups, keeps it interesting. Sounds pretty good so far. :)

@yoitsfrankd - Feelin' your kick bro, epic basses. The high pitched noise sound sick... can't really give much else.

@hudson - I love the mellow vibes/piano in your. I'd like to hear the snare louder, but thats just personal preference... 2:35 -3:50 is a bit too slow to hold my interest... Great chill smoking song. :W:

@Cheeky - Dancey! Makes me want to do the robot :corndance: Interested to hear whats coming after the drop... The kick seems a bit dry, and I can see the melody getting repetitive.. Good start though.

Heres my chill/relaxed tune... still needs a lot of work. Feedback appreciated :D

Hey guys,

@eldoogle
Love the intro, but the drop was kinda of weak in the sense that the only sound for a long time was the bass. Try adding different sound along your song. You have lots of space in between beats in dubstep, try filling those out as much as you can. Make it more dynamic!

@hudson
Very chill, man. The vocals are awesome, they give the song a creepy feel, in my opinion. I just expected the song to be intense instead of chill because the vocals really gave me a tensed up feeling. A little bit of variation in the piano would be good too.

@Cheeky
Interesting man, I just think theres space for a lot more. The bass is kinda repetitive, but the beat is pro. The hats sound awesome.

Now my track. Its still incomplete in certain spots (you can see theres no bass at one point before the brake), and the post-brake is kinda repetitive, I intend in changing the melody there. But if you guys could give me a general feed, thatd be cool.

Soundcloud

EDIT:
Reuploaded with new bassline. Still not happy with it. Ideas? :?

yeah totally disregard that breakdown comment. I meant to say a fill. adding a little "metal/hardcore" fill wouldn't be bad at all if thats the style your going for.

thanks for your input im defiantly trying to keep that outdoors feel to it. i worked on it today, added a throaty pad. when i get back to it ill try out a woody snare for sure i am imaging the sound now and i can sense it sounding nice! thanks

@eldoogle Good potential, like the main section, the intro doesn't work for me though and the buzz note is annoying. V good at 1.54 sounds really reallty nice with the shadow sub. Just the intro and the bit before 1.54 needs addressing IMO...

@yoitsfrankd - feels like you need to send the mid back in the mixso you have heavy sub and nice tops with a distant mid. ie reverb / EQ

@hudson - Another nice track I like the piano & tempo not really into the beat.

@710 - Heard this earlier on in the forum. This has really evolved sounding pretty finished, one of my favs...

dream thief. pitch ups sound a little weird in the intro. the synth comin at 22 kinda throws you off but damn that drop sucked me in. insta banger. cravin a 320 when you get that done

randommic i dig the piano and beat. i think the kick needs to be pushed up just a little bit. the wobble. KILLS it. man its sooo muddy. i think you should re think that synth. it over powers everything else

alex snare nearly busted my ear drum.

cheeky. nothing hits it all sounds in the background. you have no intro going on really. you lead straight into a buildup but from nothing.

bullshitting around. sick as hell to my stomach

@eldoogle: think the intro would sound better if you didn't bring the synth in immediately, but over all I like the concept of the track

@oprs, I think you need to bring the kick in a little more or maybe some other harder sounds to regiment the song more. Feels a bit too laidback imo

@dreamthief: I love percussive stuff like this, reminds me of ramadanman. If I were you I'd tone down the bass a bit more with a lowpass or something then the flute sound (if possible) to give a trippy droning kinda feel. also, the drop needs work as well as far as a build up. Has great potential.

Here's my track: Soundcloud the main thing I'm unsure about on it is the way the hi-hat comes in, it sounds a bit awkward to me. Feel free to give feedback on anything and everything it's greatly appreciated :)

@yoitsfrankd I like the dark quality to the track, makes me think a little bit of "Aliens" by Excision & Endophyte, I think if you gave the square wave sound a little more grit in parts (like an evolving kinda sound automating a distortion or bitcrusher) it would sound cool. I think the snare in the intro could use some more reverb to fill the sonic space, it sounds a little empty to me at first but I like how it develops. Sends chills down the spine.

@710, You've got a cool kind of "spooky" halloween-esque feel going, the fast lfo evokes shivering. I'd make the snare more prominent though, in general the percussion feels a little weak compared to the synth

biff- i think the intro could be a little more sparse and build up instead of starting with everything and adding one more thing. the snare and kick seem like. im not sure it could use a better sample? not really my cup of tea but i know some people that would dig it

@oprs

Sounds interesting man, the background sounds really set the mood. I just think the kick could be a little stronger and the bass could be a bit more elaborate. The bell sound in the beginning sounds like a Sytrus preset, could be modified a bit, sounds too simple (unless that's what you're going for).

I made some modifications on the bassline, sounds less muddy, but its still not what i'm looking for. Open for ideas lol.
