i think its fair to say there will prob be nothing coming out on dmz anymore lol. kinda obvious isnt it.

BUT

they should def do a ltd repress of the back catalogue, vinyl only. i dont know why they dont. they could just do a series of special 10"s or something, just so its not the same as the 12s. or 7"s even! i would really like to see that :D

I've heard mala say in a few interviews, rbma for one, that he has no intention of EVER repressing certain dmz plates, "anti war dub/haunted" especially

that being said, the next dmz is living different/education

to be honest, they should just stop now.

no point in releasing anything on dmz now when they all have other outlets.

if they bring back dmz it will just seem less special. that stuff belongs to another era now. and theyre obv very aware of that. which is why nothing is being released on dmz. i dont think they want to ruin the name of the label. i cant find any other reason to explain it. their standards are too high. unless they start releasing old dubs, it might as well be a different label.

Different era? Less special? What are you going on about?!. It will never seem less special, I would be happy with one release a year. If they released some of their old stuff it would still fit in with the times. Yes if they have another release I reckon it will be an old tune like livin' differant or return to space, do you really think it wouldn't fit in this era? Of course it would, Mala is still making seriously good music. The only way I think they could possibly "Ruin the name of the label" would be to have another 014 release because in my eyes was a big disappointment but I seriously do think that were going to have a Mala plate next and I reckon it's going to have some serious tracks on it.
I really don't want to be eating my words this time next year lol

i dunno, it seems so long since the last dmz release, in a way, i think itd be cooler for them to maybe retire the label now. makes it more 'special'. i get the sense they know that anyway which is why they wont repress anything lol.

The point is, Mala said Livin' Different is being released. Too stoked about that to really speculate on much else...

@ Notez- arg! the audio in the youtube clip is too poor to really get a sense of it... can't imagine how heavy it was being there!

If there is a new release on dmz, I would hope it's not simply a regurgitation of some dubplate, but a couple of brand new tracks (although that's not to say I dont like the old Mystikz and Lofah dubs.) If Sinners and Level Nine are anything to go by, I love the new direction Mala is taking and some new stuff would be a nice way to continue the label. That being said, it seems a lot of Mala's attentions are focused on Deep Medi at the moment, and Loefah must be busy with Swamp 81. Don't really know what Coki's up to, he seems quite secretive (or maybe I'm not well enough informed.)

well whatever it is it isnt in a different era because to be honest the tunes these boys come out with are timeless. i reckon eyez/livin different is mala's next release and id like to see education at some point. too many coki tunes i want to come out and sadly i dont really know many loefah dubs :( hint hint put out more!

I have to say that a decadent but glorious one-sided 'Anti-War Tapped' would make my year (not that i think it will actually happen by any means), but to be honest I would be happy with anything. Maybe an old favourite dubplate on one side and something new on the flip. I'm not sure, but I certainly trust them. I know I read something in the Blackdown inteview with Loefah and Kryptic Minds when Loefah said that Coki had been working on some mad new stuff, which was basically a reaction to people ripping off his sound. If anything new can even touch Goblin, I'm pretty fucking scared.

loefah and pokes came into the apple store (where i work) just before christmas and i asked loefah about the next dmz release. he said it was being mastered that day and would be out in the new year. i don't see why he would lie.
