Just something I've never really got when people say that. Real world example for me. Playing american football, been putting in work in the gym, training hard, studying film etc. I get a pick that wins that game for us. Is my being happy for myself a sign of weakness there?

nothin' wrong with feeling proud imo
say you've coached some unskilled kids to do something worthwhile,
how is it wrong to not feel proud of them & maybe a little for yourself
or personal pride,
say you've got a bad back but still make the painful effort to clean your shoes.

It's sort of interchangable with patriotism and often relates to being stubborn or concervative or similar doesn't it. Like it's not bad, but bad people own it lol..
A guy comming from Boston saying pride is at least a bit shallow or a bit shit, is pretty good in my book. This might be highly prejudiced but that's ok I'm a super racist.. but I reckon you would run into that kind of un-explained super 'pride' in boston more than here.
