Compa got popular too quickly that was his downfall, big up him for ignoring the hate and just keep doing what hes doing. I've always enjoyed his music, his radio shows and his sets.. isn't that what counts?
I actually understand the DMZ bootlegging hate though, although I put that down to naivety rather than him conciously trying to make his name bigger.

The only problem I have with his DMZ refixes was that they were fairly boring and unimaginative, at least IMO... check his Anti War Dub refix for example:
The tune itself is a really average "dungeon sound" Kryptic Minds knockoff, it's not horrendous or anything but it's not that interesting either, if it weren't for the Anti War Dub sample nobody would have really given a shit about it. All the best parts of the tune are in that sample. For me at least if you're remixing a tune you should bring something new to the table, or what's the point? Same with Root, Dem A Talk (obviously that one's not a DMZ refix but the same point stands, the Mavado vocal is the only reason to listen to it, TMSV did a much more interesting remix. What's with all the Dem A Talk remixes anyway? Mavado has other tunes...). Obviously this is all just my opinion, I know a lot of people like these tunes... I just can't really see the draw myself. Some of Compa's other tunes are a bit more interesting but it seems with the refixes he just samples well known tunes to elevate a mediocre tune's appeal...

i like the anti-war refix, takes the original to another dimension, imo if you listen to it as music rather than "butchering the holy grail" then you might actually be able to enjoy the music.
in response to DeniedExistence, if someone was to play me a copy of it without the samples from anti-war dub, i'd still enjoy it a lot personally, and i promise that's not to make an arguement, i hate arguements.
so please don't read that as an arguement

Fair enough, each to their own.That style of dubstep is very hit and miss to me. Producers like Kryptic Minds, SP:MC, LX One, J:Kenzo and a few other guys who followed on from Loefah's dark subby half step style are fucking amazing but so much of the "dungeon" type stuff just bores me. although personally i don't really associate Compa with that sound so much, i honestly think although a lot of people do narrow him down to dungeon, i think he has achieved a unique sound, there is a different kind of energy coming from his music than there is with most dungeon.
