This may sound amateurish but is there any other cheaper controller that has a center disk and a jogwheel ring encircling that disk?

i don't think you're gonna find a store that rents controllers. your best bet is to find someone that owns one or CDJs and ask them to borrow/rent.

a reasonable price for a controller is $50 per 24 hours imo. a whole week is a different story.
