"You're not going to improve much when starting out by trying to hone a single track into perfection ffs."
Funny cause, thats exactly what many successful people have done/do all the time. So Mars Volta did it wrong then I guess? They only spent like YEARS before showing anyone any of their stuff.
Blu Mar Ten are idiots too then I guess. The reality is focusing on one element at a time until its good is how it gets done, not lazily slapping a bunch of unrefined shit together in a muddy mixdown.

Nah not angry, just a bit annoyed that most decent threads that are left in this forum are getting pissed on by idiots.BudSpencertron wrote:i give him one thing though he made mthrfnk, one of the nicest guys on dsf, a bit angry

There is no right and wrong, but lets face the facts - most people on this forum are hobby producers, we're not looking to be the next big thing. I really don't see your problem with people posting ideas and WIP tracks for review, especially as a means for improving production wise.BaasDNB wrote:"You're not going to improve much when starting out by trying to hone a single track into perfection ffs."

If you're style to hone away at your first very few tracks until perfection, by all means go for it idgaf. Me, I'm one for cycling through ideas and multiple WIPs till I come up with something I and other people like, at which point I try to hone it down. Each to their own.
1. It's not a release, it's for competition entries, which atm I have none so the link is actually in fact null and void.BaasDNB wrote:" not to advertise your latest shitty beatport release"

2. I'm not making posts in this thread asking you to buy my stuff, it's an addendum to people that tend to read my shit or look at my signature.
Fucking lol @ that pic.johnkimble wrote:what if i like to lazily slap a bunch of unrefined shit together in a muddy mixdown

yah, but everything in that WIP was refined and actually used things like harmony, progressions etc.BudSpencertron wrote:dude i remembered you posting in wip before. not saying thats bad but telling others to wait until they are ultra good before posting anythingBaasDNB wrote:Here is one of mine thats in the forge... If everything was already so refined then why the fuck did you need feedback. Wooooow, you know what harmony is? Oh my god this whole time I've been questioning your rep but now I can see that I need to be taking notes...BaasDNB wrote:yah, but everything in that WIP was refined and actually used things like harmony, progressions etc.BudSpencertron wrote:dude i remembered you posting in wip before. not saying thats bad but telling others to wait until they are ultra good before posting anythingBaasDNB wrote:Here is one of mine thats in the forge... Re: WIP Thread - GIVE FEEDBACK TO OTHERS BEFORE POSTING!!!
The sub is a low passed Reese which is by definition detuned saws and the pads sound dissonant as a way to create tension. But I'm sure you already know that seeing as you're an expert on music theory and all. Keep grasping at straws though and I'm sure you'll find somebody who actually thinks you know something...BaasDNB wrote:obviously you do, listen to that emo shit in your signature. some of your notes are out of tune
Re: WIP Thread - GIVE FEEDBACK TO OTHERS BEFORE POSTING!!!
wasnt talking about your bass or your pads. hahhhh, bunch of joke musicians ruining a good thing. Used to be a lot more quality in this thread but since we have to tip toe on everyones feelings this is what we end up with

*I would give feedback, but there isn't a tune to be found within the last few pages due to arguing!
(Doesn't mean I wouldn't like some feedback on my track however guys
)
Current WIP: Just started it not too long ago. It's getting late and I kind of want feedback on it before deciding whether or not to continue or trash it.

it is funny you say this though, cause i am actually pretty nice in person.BudSpencertron wrote:i really start to think you are a nice guy and that is what makes me sad. not that you tell me that i suck or anything besides that just that you arent what you write.

I vote tune battle for derailing the crap out of this thread.
Anywho just feedback,
@kibb Not my style but for sure quality, I wish there was a little bit more grit and volume to the highend of the spectrum it seemed
a bit backgrounded other than that I enjoyed listening to it.
@johnkimble A bit too glitchy on the arrangments for my taste, and one of the highats gets to be a bit harsh on the ears.
More my taste in music though, and the sounds go well together.
@living_tragedy Not bad, the drop has impact but maybe a bit more bass end to fill out the spectrum.

Re: WIP Thread - GIVE FEEDBACK TO OTHERS BEFORE POSTING!!!
Then stop posting if it's such a shit thread... You don't have to be a part of it. I think the thread was getting on just fine without you and your incessant complaints about the good ol days. I'm sorry we fail to live up to your great expectations oh wise one. I'm also still waiting for you to post some of your gems with all the harmonies and brilliant progressions by the way.BaasDNB wrote:wasnt talking about your bass or your pads. hahhhh, bunch of joke musicians ruining a good thing. Right, as fun as this has been, we should get back to the whole 'feedback' thing.
