@bass_killa

the cleaned up version much improved over the original. It sounds to me like you are using only samples for your melody. Thus, to me atleast, it sounds uninspiring. But hey, to each their own. I'm certainly no expert, but I feel musicians should be able to make their own sounds before trying to put a song together using other peoples sounds. If nothing else, this will train your ear as to what sounds good to you.

@jstick

intellectual wasn't working but the song in your sig is great! I was bobbing my head around like a fool. I forgot what I was going to suggest so i'll have to listen again and edit this...

@mortal

your samples are in different keys. This makes my ears bleed. This is a good guide as to what keys go together: Image Damn, that image is big. Transitions between Letters (A to B or vice versa) sound the most natural. Transitions to neighbor numbers are also ok.

@haploid - killer post dude, I'll look out for your edit and thanks for the compliments on the track. Dunno whats up with soundcloud today but it doesnt seem to want my track to work.

Thanks for that picture chart thing too! Never seen that before.

Oh plus, I finished that track now so you can check it here if it works...

@4trak

The EQ seems way off. Way too bass heavy. I had to crank up my speakers and when the cowbell hit and broke the ceiling I almost shit myself.

@aftee

Uh, YES PLEASE! killer. At the end of the bass loop it sounds like you hit some off key notes. Only gripe.

@jstick

now i remember. To add a little interest and make it a little dubbier maybe have a track that almost matches the envelopes on your synth (the filter/saturator sweeps) but like a really airy sound. Either some wind instrument or a even just white noise. Really I only imagine hearing this airy noise wobble in when you peak the filter/saturator sweep. So when the filter/sat hits the peak (it holds for 6 notes IRCC) there is this airy noise that trails it and sweeps up. Damn dude, which I could just show you. Alas, it's time for rest.

@JemGrover - Thanks. I'll take all the progression advice posted into mind. I really like the track in your sig.
Really steppy and just makes you want to nod your head. Everything seems to fit together well..simple but compliments eachother well.

@Tripwire - Drums and the bass sound nice together. The track just feels a bit empty to me for some reason?
Sounds well produced and everything but seems like it could use some more elements to keep it rolling.

@paravrais - Digging the track in your sig! Always good to hear wobble not being hammered in the typical way.
Beautiful intro!

@ bass_killa - Intro has a pretty dark feel surrounding it. Drum pattern itself isn't bad but they sound a bit plain/stocky. I'd
beef them up a bit and tweak some FX or what not to get them sounding more "full". Basically the main thing
I'd critique is that wobble you've got going on. Don't feel as if you HAVE to include a "wobble" into your music.
I enjoyed the track a lot more without it. If you do include it though I'd definitely suggest processing it some more
and just trying to revamp the sound and build upon it. It sounds very out of place in regards to the rest of the tune.

@ Mortal - Hear you on the percussive progression and having more catchy/rolling basslines. I really do need to
put in a bit of work on my basslines. I'd suggest taking a bit out of the intro or introducing more after the drop. I sort of
feel like the intro builds up too much for the drop that follows..like it builds you up then drops you into something
that feels like it's reverted to the intro sort of. Just not my style of tune to begin with but you've got variety on that synth
switching up I just feel like you need something else in the background to keep it interesting. Maybe introduce
some percussion in after a few bars after the drop and give the drums a little more liveliness.

@ haploid - Track in your sig sounds like you're off to a good start. Very dark and heavy, rolling bass. Gets a lot
more interesting after the 2nd drop. Gets a bit repetitive making it through the first though.

Damn that was a lot of typing. :t:

Heya,

@ Bass_Killa - Hey man, good on ya for sorting your shit out and leaving some feedback. I thought your 'are you taking the piss' comment was a bit out of line to be honest. You gotta be willing to accept all feedback and show respect. I hope you get some more feedback now that you are contributing to the forum. Your track is sounding infinately better than when i first heard it. It has a better sense of musicality and the structure seems more well thought out. Keep at it.

@ Jstick - Couldn't listen to your tracks man, not sure whats going on. I'll keep my eye out and give you some FB when i see a working soundcloud clip.

@ Mortal - Hey Mortal. I really enjoyed this track. Kinda laid back and flowy but gritty and mean. I enjoy that combination of vibes. Well done dude. Wish the track was longer :P

@ Funicular - Hey dude, so this isn't the kinda thing i'd usually listen to, Gotta say i enjoyed the drums the most here, the toms are deep. Thought the snare rythim sounded a little too R&B for me. Thought maybe a change up or introduction of a lead might mix it up a bit.

@ Tripwire - Hey man, love the beats, love the bass. Nice groove. Thought the first drop came in early and a bit unexpected. WIP obviously. Sounding sick man. Liking the darkness. Especially from about 2:30. Nice one!

@ JemGrover - This is brilliant. Makes me wanna surf the wind... make it longer or i will hunt you down. ENOUGH FUCKING SAID!

I dont have a track posted just yet for feedback. Going to finish some mixing and post one up soon. Thanks for posting ur tunes. All a pleasure to hear. PEACE!

Alright, here's a track i started working on with a mate.
Most of the stuff i produce or am looking to produce under the name Olux is written for the dance floor.
This is a track for 'Comatoaster' a collab project aimed at making anything dubstep inspired with a psychedelic or massive sound.
Not really sure where this fits in with that said. Let me know what you think. Cheers!

I like the ambiance you are setting in the song. Try to add a little bit of a buildup in the middle bridge part where that guy commented, so people can expect the drop.

Don't be surprised if I leave tons of feedback on your soundcloud, I hope you do the same for me.

Sounds HUUGE. You just have to get the drums louder, or lower the bass and raise the mix. Other than that, i like it a lot.

@EraREdux - nice one dude! Thanks for listening.. the mix is definitely in need of some fine tuning but I'm glad you enjoyed it. I'll start working on it later on, cheers for the tips.

Your sig tune, the first one is fucking ridiculously good. Absolutely loving the whole glitchy wobble stuff, almost sounds kinda 8 bit at times too. Really great vibes! :-]

@ Jstick - Intellectual - Nice tune man. Great vibe. Only suggestion i can think of is to bring a lead in during the break, or bring the vocals back in a bit earlier. Just gets a bit empty for me there. and yeah, maybe bring the bass down a touch. Other than that really nice work.

@Olux I really dig the dubstep-inspired hip-hop style you're working with here. It feels really personal to me - not so much massive - which is a good thing in my book, but if you're going for that 'massive' sound then you may wanna switch some things up. Personally, i like it as a more intimate song.

@tripwire22 I agree with a lot of what eraredux said. You can make your drop more powerful after the interlude if you have some kind of lead in to it, but the aesthetic is really spot on. Nice stereo field too, i like the way the bitcrushed sounds expand from the center out.

@eraredux First track was superheavy, I like how the bass glides a little bit and hits some offkey money notes. The only thing I would think about is maybe highlighting those big moments by dropping out some other sounds for a second or something along those lines.

Not exactly dubstep but definitely a 'dubby' beat, let me know what you think!

@Mortal - that sounds evil. I like those stabs in the beginning.

@Olux - Really, really chill. I'd like the kick drum to have a little more umph to it, but other than that, it sounds solid.

@jstick - Fat and nasty. I love those wobbles in the middle. I think the hihat and snare could be a bit louder. Sick work.

@hankerins - I'm totally digging this song. I don't really like those horn sounds in the second half, but that's just me. The percussion work kicks ass. Good stuff overall.

I made some tweaks to the song I posted a couple days ago. It still sounds pretty generic, but I'm working on a new one that sounds a lot more original. Let me know what you think.

@Olux - Thanks dude! really appreciate the comments and suggestions.. I've made a few changes and stuff but I think youre right about the break getting a bit empty, so i may add some vocal cut ups there too.

@drummerpig - Thanks a lot man! I tried to get it fat and nasty but keep it melodic at the same time, I'm glad you liked it! Appreciate the suggestions also, I worked on it a bit trying to get the snare a bit louder and the hats too.
