Thanks for the feedback jakedubber. Added in the percussion as suggested, definitely adds a little flair:
Soundcloud

@antman - I'd personally put a little reverb on the snare and add some subtle effects in the intro. The bass is pretty slow compared to the intro beat, not sure if that's the effect you were aiming for but it's a little anti-climactic. Or it might be because you slowed down the melody of the stab sound from the beginning. Cool track so far though, I love the buildup whoosh. :)

@jakedubber - On first listen I found the intro synth (at the very start) a little choppy with such low release, and the main synth came in harsher than I expected (wonder how it would sound slightly deeper/darker if that makes sense). Otherwise, it's sounding sick... great intro, and everything is very refreshing and original. Love the "how romantic" sample, where'd you find that?

@NICORISONE - i can already imagine rising string-type pads, subtle ambient background noises, etc. Sub-bass would be nice, don't think it needs a heavy bass drop. A grimey high-attack synth coming in and out could be cool. Overall, I'm seeing this one as chill, but that's just my type of music.

@mattdesl - Yeah man! The hand percussion sounds great. The snare sounds a little muffled. If that isn't in the way you've EQd it then throw on a splash of distortion and that'll brighten it up nicely. The 'How romantic' sample is from The Aristocats, as is the laugh. Thanks for the feedback, I'm messing with the synths now :)

@DubMikey - I like the autopanning scrape noises in the intro and the metallic kick drum. The drop is a little messy, and the wobble bass could do with some more controlled LFO automation. Try making the automation with the LFO set to Saw Down, then change it to Sine afterwards. With Saw Down it's a lot easier to hear where each wave happens, and so your automation sounds cleaner.

Thanks everyone for the feedback I appreciate it.
I've worked on it a bit and its sounding much better but I think I will just save it as a rainy day project.

I'm glad everyone mentioned the "darkness" I think that is exactly my problem I've had such a huge writers block lately because I've been straying from what I know trying to develop more as a producer but lost my style you know? Really opened my eyes :)

@CoreyGoesRawr - Nice, but its a little jumbled after the drop. Good intro though!

@mattdesl - Chill relaxing track, i like it!

@DubMickey- Sounds alright, not really my cup of tea though. :)

Now my turn. The tune is fairly close to being finished, but before i do, would love some feedback on what annoys you, or i could/should change! Thanks.

been on pain killers soi my hearing may be impared my comments too

@edn: really liking the beat! percusions nice to but thought the percs leading up to the drop arond 2:45. Like the track more when it drops! wicked use of orcheral perc + instra. The volume seemed to dip here and there after the drop, track impressed me as i didnt see the drop coming and seemed nicly mixed cept for after drop volume issue.

@ideate: sounds dope! nothing to complain about well done! ..maybe some distortion/exciter on the pad at the breakdown, sounds bit oldskool when everything else is big. (imo, still works nicely... maybe some vinyl crackle on the pad) id say its done :) lookin forward to ur next piece!

@nicrosine: kinda reminded me of a ligter nin track , a kick type bassline would be cool, like what you have but with a longer tail and maybe tightened up a bit (imo)
as for piano notes, i like how they build up so far, depends on what else your going to add to the track, the more other noises instruments keep it simple, or continue what you have and more in depth piano, itd like to hear the latter (imo)

@mattdesil: pretty good for a first track, the hats at the intro were a bit quiet , the bass seemed to high and to loud, it was a bit repetitive some edits every 8th or 16th bar would be good.

@CoreyGoesRar: QUALITY SaMplE! , dunno what to comment, noded my head along, semmed like there wasnt much activity in the higher frequencies.

@sikozade: oo....dear! like this! nothing bothers me,the intro could be bigger maybe.

@antman: cheeky synth, liking the intro, maybe a few spaces in the synth line, the kick seemed to need more attack? to me. Wasnt keen on the low sounding yoi sounds. Maybe dont have the cheeky synth at the drop? (imo)

@jackdubber: liking the pace, yea nicely done! synth bass's are sounding good! They work really well together! The voice sample didnt semm to sit too nicly after it dropped maybe freq split it to give it a more metalic sound like the basslead

heres mine, abit poppy and maybe quieter then the tracks on here.

@mattedsl Dam for sure. That sounds sick.

@Dubmikey Wow nice work. The middle gets kind of boring for me though. Try adding some different sounds. Other than that its sounds great.

@sickozade I have nothing to complain about at all. Pretty nasty track. Sick work.

Heres mine again lemme know what you guys think of it so far.

Finished it.

@nibzdub: I like the percussion quite a bit. The simplicity lends a relaxing air to it, too, but the second bit starts to jive with the first in that respect. Oh, and dude, if you have to wait to post feedback until later, why not just post your track then?

@antman: Sounds a little generic at this point. I think you could do something amazing with those kick rolls, though. IMHO, that distorted yah bass (starting at 0:43) should either come out, or become the main point. It's at odds with your LFO'd beginning, and doesn't feel like it fits the mood that was established. Does sound cool, though!

@fbac: That snare feels like it hits a little early, but it's decay/trail is perfect. I love the synths, though. Buzzy, yet thick. Nice.

@sickozade: Love those drums; full to the max! And those hats remind me of Benga for some reason. But at that drop? Perfect. Love the extended treble, too. :D From 2:18 on to 2:45 is awesome, I have to say. Any chance of a download?

@Spencerdubbin - Your intro's a little weird for my taste :) Nice sub, but your melody is mental in a way that kind of subtracts from the overall track. I also think that your wobble is WAY too high. It really needs fattening up and being brought down an octave or two. The track has variation but no real progression. It's all jumping around the same one idea. Try messing with different synths or having different sections melody-wise. I also reckon the track could be quite a bit shorter, although more progression would make the track more interesting and make me want to listen for longer :) On the positive, I like your drums and the feel of your track. It isn't trying to be as dirty as possible, but it's not so chilled you have to be stoned to appreciate it. I do like what you have, but you need to do a funk-load of work on it before it'll be finished.

Hello again DSF! I'm growing to like it here, I'm usually not the forum type but I think I could get used to this one.

Anywho, I return again for more feedback! Recently I've run into a series of real life setbacks with the man who owns my house (Oh how power, in the absence of intelligence, can go to ones head...) so production has been almost at a stand still, and I seem to have run into a roadblock as a result. :\
Although this project really isn't a serious one at all (more or less a training exercise) I still want to get it to a better point than this. I still have to resample, clean it all up, mix, and all that glorious stuff, but this is essentially the direction this track is going. (I'd like to get some feedback in the earlier stages of the song, since this whole style of Dstep is completely new to me) I think it's coming along alright for a first track, we'll see what happens.

Sorry in advance for the mp3 quality (oh the shame..) My computers being buggy and I don't trust it to upload for any period of time.

One more thing, are the WIP's staying in the production section, or are they moving entirely to the new section of the site?

oops my mistake! i had posted once before and completely forgot, anyways!

@jakedubber sick, sick, sick SICK sample in the beginning, but the bass line seems to almost overpower it, but that could very well be my speakers (not using my cans right now)
(not sure if your looking for feedback on your sig, but there it is anyways lol.)

@dubmikey great sounds in the intro, but when the drum comes in, its almost like everything falls out of sync suddenly, and while that effect works well in some tracks, it really takes away from your drop, as theres not enough time to "recollect" yourself after it happens.

@mattdesl great sense of space man, everything fits together well, it feels a little (dare I say?) empty, but it's an unfinished, so its to be expected.. other then that though, its great... tbh im actually gonna keep an eye on it, I may want a DL when its finished.

@antman alot of people are pretty hard on the modern talk, but I actually like it, however, it is enormously overused...(thank you yoyyoy tutorial plague...) Try to vary it up some, add other basses and effects to make it your own, remember, its not overused if you do it better.

@Mister Jangles - :) That isn't my current WIP, but feedback's always appreciated. I like what you've got so far. The vocal samples at the beginning are a little weirdly cut up. Whatever comes in around 24 seconds is kind freaking me out :) Maybe cut back a bit on the samples - less is more, all of that. I like how melodic the track is, despite having some brilliantly dirty sounds in there. I love the variation in the bass sounds, but don't be afraid to stick with one synth for a little while. I think having the same amount of mental synth switching, but repeating the same 4 or 8 bars makes for a more memorable track. Predictable riffs are really nice, and when you switch up what the synths are doing, it makes it way more noticeable and has more impact. Have a really good listen to your favourite dubstep artists and that's probably what they do. Looking forward to hearing this further down the line of production.
