DJ Shadow is like Burial IMO. He is appreciated and imitated by people who listen to/produce seriously tame shit, but the actual tunes are strong as fuck.

Fair enough. I think I couldn't see the forrest for all the trees back then. Hard getting into instrumental hiphop and breaks in a time where there was people like ltj bukem, optical, roni size, timbaland or rza doing beats. :W:

Look back a few pages of what I wrote about him, but basically he's a plagiarist, he makes a team of workers that pretty much do everything for him giving his compositional process something of an assembly line feel, he reuses his own shit in multiple films and his music is bland and cheesy as fuck.

He is everything I hate in Hollywood movie scores and basically just in it for the money like a boy band's producer would be

Right, so if that were true why would I like Juicy J or other blatantly rich rappers who even go on about it? Why would I have over 20 Black Sabbath records and over 20 Iron Maiden records given that they still sell out arena shows world wide?

Everything I said about Zimmer is true though. He rips off classical music constantly and writes the shittest most formulaic music possible where he basically writes little sketches and makes a team of people arrange it all. Then half the time relies on sample libraries instead of recording a real orchestra which sounds shit. Everything he does these days is just churning out bait mainstream hollywood wank music in the easiest most profitable way. He wasn't always as bad, back in the day he was just average and fitted the films. Now though he's half arsing it and ripping people off. Fuck Hans Zimmer

when u say shit music though, what do you mean by it? cus maybe what you think is shit, i think is good - in its context

like this

its bait as fuck, but its done really well. If you'd never heard of Pirates Of The Caribbean and someone played you that, you'd probably imagine pirates anyway. It may not be different or experimental but it does its job pretty well

same with this, nothing new, but for what it is, its pretty amazing

when u hear that loud in a cinema your like FUUUCK, SHITS BOUT TO GO DOWN MAN... OMG THIS IS EPIC etc etc

so yeah, what im sayin is for its purpose and role of being bait Hollywood music its pretty genius

No I don't I think "oh wow another shitty bland fucking pirates of the carribean film. Why do people watch this?"

It's not genius either if you rely on plagarism and then still even then recycle your own music. Plus rely on other people and cut corners on recording actual live orchestras.

You can say he's a genius at making money. Not a musical genius though. Just like Michael Bay isn't a good director just because the transformers movies make serious money. Or the woman who wrote twilight is a genius at literature because it's sold so many copies.
