so basically theres less and less "spirit" as time goes on. So any given time is more shit, or devoid of "spirit" than 50 years before that? What does that even mean.

Or do you just mean theres such a thing as zeitgeist?

I think he means the roots of one's past. You can look back on it, but you can never really go back.

I had dreads down to my ass, yes.
Now I am a Mechanical Design Engineer in a high profile position.
Man can't walk around with dreads in that environment.
