sounds pretty damn solid to me
then again i prefer the older sound (fuck 01-07 is old now) vs the newer stuff

care to post examples of what you mean? theres been a crazy variety of bassline flavors in between that period as far as i know, basically everything except the uberflanged neo-neuro reeses and that dungeon dnb stuff aka sine waves put thru guitar amps

edit: and thank you !!! i was listening to noisia for the whole day (which i never do normally) so i compared my attempt to their stuff and it sounded paper thin in compairson, i need to find a way to give shit more pressure is that what you mean by 'the older sound'?

yea i meant the noisia/phace etc stuff from that era where it was a solid sounding reese with variations vs the later like calyx and teebee where it was like 5 diff sounds all as one line vs now where it's just all over (though i must say that new caylx and teebee on subtitles seems throwback like mad)
when i think of solid reeses i harken back to my old dnb neuro and tech step stuff and think of like konflict or kemal

thanks a lot man, and no trust me i dont know shit i just read this whole thread and some other threads over at the grid plus some youtube tutorials this morning and then spent the evening with my roommate trying out shit.

i made this for some buddies though, maybe it helps you:

the bass patch in question is from a youtube tutorial by dodge and fuski (never heard a track of them but i suppose its brostep), its based on the lunacy waveform and you can easily adjust it to your taste (half of what he did in that video is pointless imo)

the plugins used are massive (obvs), wow filter (best filter ever), an EQ and fabfilter saturn but that plays less of a role than you might think. also a flanger and some reverb.

Yep, i read about that Luna-based reese, but i would have never guessed that it was that one in your sample
Thanks a lot for all that tasty information , guess i'll have to experiment a lot more with that reese by the way, the cicada waveform also works in interesting ways with the modulations in Massive (it sounds almost the same actually, slightly different timbre)
I actually experimented a bit with wow filter, but i haven't quite made anything that great with it yet.

If you want to make that type of older reese i suppose you should, as already mentioned in this thread, not use massive. Other synths like even cytrus and albino / etc. have cleaner saw waves and are therefore probably better suited for creating reeses similar to those analog, oldschool sounding ones.

It has shitty dynamic range still though. thoughts on the tune? One issue that i am facing is that the melodics are extremely hard to recognize, so i am currently searching for a way to get some harmonics back in to make the melody clearer. (the melody still needs improvement too, as does the composition)

Holy shit that is wicked. Try adding some melodic background elements if you want more dynamic range, as far as the reese goes I don't think it needs a lot more.

Thanks! True, that might actually help, something in the upper octaves that underlines the current melody.

So I was messing about with some reeses yesterday, and I made one that to me sounded very close to one of the basses in Killsonik-Bloodlust
I think the key of the example is off, 'cus I haven't heard the tune in a while, but anyways..
