We are getting ever closer to achieving a majority, at which point we will silence all opposition, forever.

Re: Ukraine
Funny reading the last paragraph saying how the deal will fuck the country.

Re: Ukraine
See, this is why all the anti-IMF, anti-fractional-reserve tinfoilhats are actually kind of right: at least, their assessment of the problem is correct but their proposed solutions are often wack. These arrangements wind up being national indentured servitude more often than not.
Re: Ukraine
Speaking on behalf of the tin foil hats - yeah no duh, you'd have to be willfully ignorant to think that these IMF loans are to the benefit of the people or the countries that receive them.
And that begs the question, why is it that a country like Ukraine has to choose who owns it? Why is the choice either Russia or Euro? Why can't they stand on their own?
And dfault, if Russia gets really hungry, who do you side with? Will you accept Russian ownership?

So much for bailout: UKRAINE PARLIAMENT FAILS TO SUPPORT 1ST BID TO PASS ANTI-CRISIS LAW REQUIRED FOR IMF DEAL, DEPUTIES CONTINUE DISCUSSION

jokes aside, i think atm Russia is only hungry for being left alone in its space after having been plundered during the 90's when they suddenly switched pretty much overnight from communism to harcore liberal capitalism (which btw is IMO the reason lots of russians are backing Poutine, the whole "he restored order" thing does have a bit of truth to it) + having the NATO (whose purpose has always historically been to "contain" Russia, despite the humanitarian bullshit we've been served since the Kosovo intervention) expanded all the way to Poland and now Ukraine, really not buying into the spin that Russia is in an aggressive mindset tbh, but the US is really trying hard to get them to use military force so who knows...
Re: Ukraine
I honestly think you need to reduce the role the US plays in your equations. We are descending into civil war. I don't know if you guys are aware of it through your own media, but it is happening, we are being destabilized.dfaultuzr wrote:i'm already teaching myself the cyrillic alphabetnowaysj wrote:

Re: Ukraine
This is not helping. A heating of the conflict on the Turkey/Syria border. Unlike Ukraine, Turkey is a NATO ally.

Re: Ukraine
As I understand it Turkey and Syria have been exchanging artillery fire. Syria as been hitting Turkey with stray rounds since this thing in Syria kicked off. But it seems like this is escalating. Turkey itself is ready to fall apart, and is being held together with duct tape.
Re: Ukraine
Turkey shot down a Syrian jet fighter just a couple of days ago.
Re: Ukraine
Yep, and YT was shut off to stop the leaked recordings of Turkey's intelligence chief stating that pretext could be created to take Syrian land.
