Yeah, I wasn't overly impressed by Calle F / Cuba Electronica, and for that price.. Well. I'm probably gonna get it eventually (unless it's sold out completely), but I'm just not that excited about it for the time being. Might end up just buying the CD.

Probably one for the happiest moments in dubstep thread, but for me, one of the happiest moments was when I decided to stop buying everything that a certain artist/label put out and actually started thinking "Nah, that tune/EP is shit, I'm not buying that". Certainly started listening further afield now, and if I ever go back to DJing out, then you aren't gonna hear the same tracks as next man.

I definitely know what you mean man. I reckon I've always been pretty good at not letting myself get caught up in the hype, but it can sometimes be a bit of a struggle.
I know I don't play the most eclectic shit, but I always end up playing, for example, the b-sides to the releases everyone else is playing simply because I find it fits better with my taste and what I'm doing. My current practice "regiment" is about teaching myself to mix together different styles and genres as fluidly as possible. Once you got the technical side of that down it opens up a million more possibilites when you're playing out. I have so many "non-dubstep" (or non-"bass music" or whatever you wanna label it) tunes that I would love to be able to mix into what I'm doing.

Hahaha yeah, to be honest a simple fade actually works wonders a lot of the time!
Been trying to come up with some more creative ways to do it though, like doing some baby scratches or sometimes just starting the next beat on top of a breakdown (even if the tempos are completely off).

In the end it's all about selection though innit. As long as the music is good and interesting, the technical side comes second.

People who take movies as a serious form of art are stupid. Way for dumb teenagers to act like intellectuals.

i don't get a lot of art that is produced that is just about making something that looks totally real omg! out of like coffee stains or cigarette butts or pennies or whatever. i just think it's super gimmicky, despite not being able to produce realistic images out of any medium whatsoever (not even my camera)

Nah, all the "art" movies people make are just contrived and made by people who think of themselves as geniuses. I know this can stand for a lot of books and music too, but those can trigger your imagination in ways a movie can't. i just find it funny when i look at people argue over petty things in movies, especially in blockbusters. Film students can suck my dick

I can name a few good artsy ones, but imo movies are meant to be entertaining, more so than music or books.
