Also spread the love through my blog.
Favourite track so far is the opener: Access to Araska - Photons second Quantization.
But I still have quite some digesting to do.
Wonderful comp.

As a source of new music, Rob Booth’s Electronic Explorations podcast has been one of the most honest and accessible outlets over the past 5 years. The reaction to the 61 track digital compilation - released independently through bandcamp on July 1st 2012 as a fundraiser for a new and functional web presence - was proof of the show’s ample historical influence, as seen in the hoard of contributing artists, and the kind of demand it experienced upon release attests to the commitment of his audience.
EE001 is a four track collection of some of the many highlights from that expansive compendium namely Akkord’s ‘Surge’, Kahn’s ‘Polar’, Ruckspin’s ‘Belong’ and ‘Hershey’s Back’ - the first official release from Milanese since 2009’s Lockout EP on Planet Mu. It’s testament to Booth’s A&R ear that the four cuts sound like they’re so perfectly cut from the same mould when they’re made by four different producers, but it’s as a physical artefact that the record comes into its own. Pressed onto heavy 180gm vinyl the tracks verb and flex with a real poise, united by a love of thick, tense sub bass with each producer’s unique sense of rhythm punching out over the top of it.
On the A side shady Manchester outfit Δkkord meld their layers of sound sparsely on ‘Surge’ letting the internal waves of the bass pulses drive their own way through the minimal deployment of measured percussion before Milanese explodes into ‘Hershey’s Back’, a heavy set pound through his iconic union of jungle snares, low end and hardcore attitude.
On the B side Bristolian meta-talent Kahn distils an icy atmosphere and drawn out snare drum tail into ‘Polar’, one of the most gorgeously crafted beats from the entire compilation, whilst Leeds producer Ruckspin notches the step up a little on ‘Belong’, one of those effortlessly rolling 140 beats he’s always been so good at crafting.
Tracklist:
A1: Akkord – Surge
A2. Milanese – Hershey’s Back
B1. Kahn – Polar
B2. Ruckspin – Belong

ELECTRONIC EXPLORATIONS - 5th B'day special - Part 01 of 02
Pinch::::
With dubstep having trail-blazed across the globe and becoming a household term in the last few years – I feel it’s a good time to take a breath, look back and check where all this came from originally. I’ve just released a compilation of older tracks/ rarities of my own (Pinch: Missing In Action, out on Tectonic), predominantly from that earlier period of dubstep and I’ve been revisiting that vibe and flavour myself in the hope that it can bring inspiration for new wave of UK dark rave music in the lineage of hardcore-jungle-garage-grime-dubstep to come and take it’s place. It’s about time. In the spirit of the era this mix is 100% vinyl – and all tracks are from around 2003-2007. I did it in one take and over 80 mins and I couldn’t have began to fit a mere fracture of all the important tracks in from that period – so I went for a loose approach, grabbing tunes from a pile and selecting as the mix unfolded. It is in no way a comprehensive best-of-that-era mix or anything like that. There are also lots of ‘ropey’ mix moments in there – but if anything – it makes for a more authentic ‘old skool dubstep’ experience. I hope you can put up with the mistakes and focus on the good bits instead!
