I like how you're using different sounds to make the bass line, I've gone down the same route on a track im doing, must say though that the structure confuses me a lot.

Maybe it's just me being nerdy but I need more solidity from a track so maybe something to think about, good sounds though

Lately i just keep making short little clips then do nothing with them.

Nows the time to pull that finger out and get some tunes finished.

Here's some feedback... finish number 3

Sounds great, nailed the atmosphere with the metalic sound in the background... It's a real funky tune!

(and hit me with a 320 when you're done

)

Also, lower the subbass in clip number 4.... had to adjust the volume quite a bit to not disturb the neighbours

Generally speaking; Just do it! Spend some time making variations, edits, and a breakdown. Do it in 3 days if you wish; spending all your time on one of these elements... All 4 tracks sound like potential to me

Far from a beat, but I'm digging the glitch sound.

You should really tweak the parameters of the Dblue Glitch your using... It sounds waaaaaay to standard and it's a really popular plugin. People will notice it...

Off course it can be used, but personally I find it more usefull for an on the fly, end of bar, edit...

Still working on this one, I really want to change the sub, made a good phat sounding one in FM8 but I've got some clicking that changing the attack did not fix, also having trouble with the transition, I feel like i have two great parts but both are different and I'm having trouble with connecting them. I got some constructive on the snare, had two people tell me it was too weak, fixed it, and then had one tell me it was too predominant, too wide. Can't please em all right? Also I'm thinking about adding some tabla at the drop or maybe a background rimshot snare break that just fades in and out in between the main snare hits. Lemme know what ya'll think, I'm still at a point where I can really change things and feedback matters. Check the soundcloud.

My first dubstep track is the first tune on my myspace. I was doing alright until I tried to do some self mastering which made me decide to tear it apart and mix it again, during which i went slightly insane.

I can't find a happy medium between having space in the mix and keeping it consistently loud/ nicely yet inaudibly compressed. Any advice on how I can make my snares pop out without increasing their volume? Should I scrap the vocal?

I'm using Logic Pro8, any ideas from other users much appreciated.

Can't listen to the track because I'm at work but 2 general tips pop to mind.

1. Layer your snare's! Have at least 2 snares to get punch an layer it with white noise to make it more present. You can even use a subish kickdrum to give it a bit more presence, don't make that one too audible though...

Aka make your snare have a broader spectrum instead of louder on the present frequency's.

2. Use sidechain compression to lower the stuff that gets in the way of the snare. Mid frequency bassline's can swallow a lot of the spectrum so your snare's sound less present.

have you ever tried mixing it down so that there is space then bounce it down to wave form and then load the wave into 2 mixer channels and add stereo separation by panning then left and right then adjusting the volumes on the two channels to make the whole thing louder
