a handfull.... but i use all freeware vsts/fx, which there are fuck all tuts on haha

watch tutorials for other synths, it doesnt really matter, they're all basically the same. a square wave is a square wave, an lfo is still an lfo, a lowpass filter is still a lowpass filter, an envelope is an envelope, etc, no matter what synth youre using. as long as you can grasp basics like that, those skills will translate to every other synth.

I'm studying audio engineering at SAE too mang. In Amsterdam.
Great school, can't comment on other locations though. Maybe I'll see you at one of the Berlin trips or something

IMO a universal theme in the production forum is people getting too caught up in the technicals instead of just writing tunes, find a balance between those two and you'll be good.

i got so caught up in that for like a whole year and managed to write absolutely nothing worthwhile the entire time. people have been making brilliant tunes for decades without getting all this overly technical stuff

This so much. 90% is people asking how to make a particular sound but that's like a tiny part of the work.
I know how to make the sounds I want, but then actually producing a tune

I've been producing for about a year and a half now and for a long time i was caught up in all the technical stuff and trying to make a certain sound and kept getting pissed off at how bad the stuff I was making was, at some points I've really wanted to give up but now I've realised that I should just have fun making music and not get bogged down with the technicals.

i agree to a point, but I think people that are passionate about vinyl wanna declare their love and support for it.

I also think that, if you declare it all vinyl, it says "I loved all these tunes enough to pay lots of money for them"...and where it's DJs that get sent lots of tunes (empefrees), it's saying "I'm not just playing any old shit someone cool just sent me ten minutes ago that I haven't really listened to yet".

Idk, I still buy rap CDs and use them for DJing, but if I declared that I was doing an all CD set I'd rightfully look like an asshole.

I dropped out of MAINZ (audio engineering) in my first year

mostly because I had already taught myself most of the shit we were learning by age 18 anyway.
I think our first practical test was to turn on the computer and open logic.

some of the sound theory was interesting though


still got my student loan..
