Trying out Ableton. Another word for brave is stupid. What's more than that, trying to build this song around a youtube sampled melody.

Don't tell yourself that because you won't finish the track.
Mines nearly done just finishing the mix then will upload and enter it,came together really well to be honest, just sort of flowed.I tried to make something i think heads on the forum will like so fingers crossed and good luck with yours.

Preciate the well wishes, I need them this time. I really don't like what I'm doing... but I'm totally honest, I'll go where a song is going, even if I don't like it. Unfortunately, I don't like this one.

sampling off youtube is great. Old worn out vinyl + youtube file compression = lots of tasty noise.

One would hope

I find if I exert too much control, the track becomes lifeless, not enough and it goes nowhere. My deal is trying to surf the power of the music (wanky, I know). Ah, hard to explain. I give myself over to it you know, medium style. Let the music talk through me. Not to say I'm totally passive, the opposite, have to be really responsive to hear and respond to what is going on, but who's kidding who, the music is large and in charge.

This sample is so shit though, bro. It is a sample of an old famicom, so it started low bit, then youtubeified, also working with the melody 40 bpm below its original tempo, so add extreme warping artifacts, on top of everything else... there are so frequencies left! I just could not place the sample in, like, a contemporary soundscape, it sounded so weak and out of place. I tried a lot, with excitation, extreme harmonic inducing compression, distortion, smearing with choruses, adding depth with reverbs and beyond... I feel relatively competent molding sounds, and I really do like fucked up sounds, this one was to be the death of me though, just could not get it right.

let it sound shitty then. If you like the sample, just keep it.

the triangle bass, hit, kick and snare are sampled from my korg emx with a terrible tube. Then, I threw the samples in maschine with a mpc60 bitcrush / compression. The break is from an old bossa trio lp. It's terrible
