Wish we could have a real debate between people who actually disagree on things. Stein, Alexander, Paul, and Johnson would be epic

Re: United States Presidential Election 2012
johnson filed an anti trust against the debates. shame it didnt go through
Re: United States Presidential Election 2012
I don't like Johnson much, tbh. Never considered him libertarian and he's paddles back when people disagree with him and doesn't seem too sure of himself about not engaging in 'humanitarian wars' and then there's the thing about privatizing prisons in his state, but NOT making drugs legal first, incentivizing corporations to lobby for anti-drug laws to fill up their prisons. And he's weak on drugs on a federal level too (decriminalize, tax and regulate marijuana, and that's it).
He's also not that smart on economics. Bit of a monetarist. He's mad efficient with cash though, I'll give him that.
By all means, he should be on the debates, though.
And yeah, Romney should win these elections so the "anti-war left" starts caring about war again. This is why I wanted McCain to win last time too. Spreading awareness about war is pretty important and since being president is more of a figurehead position anyway, and people only care about war when Republicans are in office, I'd rather see Romney in office right now.

i watched and like most people who were watching that i heard from, i felt like Romney clobbered the prez.
But that doesn't mean he's genuine
I have a feeling he's a badfaced liar and cares for nothing but business
Obama's truly in it for the people imo
But perhaps Romney's philosophy is more beneficial to us -- if we brought down tax rates in the higher brackets, simplified the code and relaxed regulations, it could attract a new wave of FDI coming into the US. And that kind of influx of capital could very well create a lot more jobs than Obama's admin could when, although he has the lower classes interests at heart, he's not attracting investors

In light of Mitt Romney’s announcement of Rep. Paul Ryan as his running mate for the 2012 Presidential Election, we’d like to point back to our article from April of 2011:
On the left is Gary Callahan, a.k.a. The Smiler, from Warren Ellis and Darick Robertson‘s Transmetropolitan VP Candidate Rep. Paul Ryan and Smiler Gary Callahan from Transmetropolitan. On the right is U.S. Representative Paul Ryan (R-WI), Chairman of the House Budget Committee.
One of these individuals has good looks and a certain amount of charisma, but has no empathy for the lower classes of society. He has designs on the presidency, and will cut odious political deals to make that happen, all while being fawned over by right wing pundits and a segment of the voters who are convinced that he will save us from “the Beast”.
The other, of course, is a character out of the comic books.
For further comparison, consider this page from Transmetropolitan #41 (reprinted in Transmetropolitan TPB #7: Spider’s Thrash) and remember that this first came out over ten years ago. It certainly sounds like something Ryan has in his campaign platform…
Here, let me transcribe it so the other spiders can get to it:
To paraphrase Warren Ellis, the only future worth talking about in science fiction is the future we’re living in.You have to understand that the care system of the country cannot be taken for granted. It is not American to swaddle you in cotton wool from cradle to grave. It is the mark of a mature country that you, too, take responsibility for your life and the lives of those around you.
We are not big government. We do not own you. These streets are your streets. Therefore it is you, in your greatness as Americans, who must care for your streets.
And the people on them.
Care for your community. Because we can’t do it for you.

Remember that Bill Hicks bit where hes talking about the new President being led into a dark smoky room, shady characters smoking cigars say to him
"your going to do as we say" while playing a video of the Kennedy assassination from an angle thats never been seen before...?
I'd say theres a hint of truth to that...

i'm assuming obama didn't want to come off as ''angry black man'' this time..i'm sure next debate he's gonna go in, there's so much to nail romney for even if you don't like either of them.
joe biden against ryan though..oh man. i'm just gonna skip that one, i have no faith in joe.
eeh maybe i'll just watch and fantasize about being paul ryan's intern
