Just watched Quadrophenia.

Was fun, can't imagine why anyone would want to be a mod after watching that though, what a bunch of mindless 'orrible people.

Good to see people repping "Aguirre, Der Zorn Göttes" in here, in my top three favourite movies of all time. Better than "Apocalypse Now" in my opinion, which took a lot of visual cues from this movie (I know it is based on Heart of Darkness, but that doesn't mean shit!).

I just watched "Shame". I'll give it a 6/10. Its visual style, images and sound/music are great, perhaps a little too slick. Fassbender is great and I've always been a fan of Mulligan as well: She always plays understated but adds something every time. But there's too effort put into creating an isolationist/escapist vibe, when really there was no need for it: I found it overstating the obvious on many occasions. I would have prefered more dwelling into the psyche of some of the characters, I feel like we've barely touched the surface and too much focus was put on the consequences rather than the root problems.
And yes, there's some awkward tension in the movie, but very little suspense. It's a good effort at creating a difficult movie, but doesn't succeed over the entire line.

Also, MirRen, take it from me: Breaking Bad is awesome. It has dark humour in limited doses, but more importantly, it has dynamics: making and selling meth and getting into all sorts of trouble is one thing, but the characters actually evolve quite splendidly. I really would give it a shot if I were you: the first season is only 7 episodes and by the end of that you'll either be sold or still hate it. 7 eps not that much effort :)
It is no way comparable to weeds, which really is one of the shitiest things I've ever watched. Let me put it this way:
Weeds is to Breaking bad, what Terra Nova is to Battlestar Galactica.

^^ yup good shout as well. Much better than the preceding Koyaanisqatsi (1982) which set the benchmark for these kinds of documentaries. That one was great too: good music, awesome footage, made for an excellent watch when under the influence. But "Baraka" adds a much needed human edge.

I quite enjoyed this one! Although the plot did have some holes in it that left me thinking :P

(thanks to djekos for suggesting this one :D )
