Anyone else kinda not looking forward to dubstep being big?

the real hype came with that streets remix and laroux remixes, since then every dubstepnight I go to is crawling with people I just wanna kick in the teeth. hope they find a new style of music very soon.

dubstep will never be big i wouldnt worry, there's still a long way to go before it overtakes drum n bass. stop putting labels on kids who dress a certain way too, i didnt realise dubstep had fashion rules?

I would be stoked if there was a dubstep night in town and hundreds of people came out to rock out and have a great time to this music. Hard for scenes to thrive when there are no fans.

One thing that killed DNB in AZ was all the elitist people that didn't like new comers showing up in "their scene" - I heard it all the time "i don't like going to dnb events because all the people there think they are better than everyone else and they act like pricks"

Why is it that I see the dubstep scene doing exactly the same thing when I read comments like this on the forum?

This is totally becoming DOA 2.0

Shitty way to look at it in my opinion.

As far as dubstep becoming mainstream like hip hop/rock/pop? Maybe, currently I doubt it, there aren't enough vocal tunes. Mainstream culture likes music with lyrics - almost all the dubstep I hear is instrumental, save for the remixes people do up.

The one thing i dont want to see is people showing up at these nights, dumping a fuckload of pills, starting fights and just heaps of shit going down because the wrong people turn up.

Thats whats been so good about dubstep for such a long time is that everyone just goes there to have a good time, listen to some good tunes, and meet some like minded people.

When fuckstains turn up that ruin the vibe for everyone is when dubstep will have lost that indescribeable element that made going to these nights so fucking awesome!!!

haha in brighton we dont really have that problem so much......dubstep nights have a lot of girls dressed like theyre off to oceana! i personally love it! >;p

I think the one thing that will help keep dubstep less popular is the fact that its (mostly) done on computers. Pretentious hipster fucks are too cool for computer music.

I don't think Dubstep will ever be mainstream, it's not accessable enough for Joe Bloggs.....

But I see the point, with the tracks some artists are making, mainly remixes of popular songs it does attract alot of people. But the 'mainstream' crowd moves along to the next thing in the blink of an eye anyway so don't worry.

I'm sure there'll be a Dubstep Pendulum to fuck everyone off.

There is something nice about liking something that isn't mainstream, but then that is really elitest. As the OP said, saying like "I heard about this before you etc etc", and that attitude makes me cringe, if I speak to someone who says "yer I love dubstep, that la roux choon is my fav", then I won't slate them, I'd try to show them the other parts they're missing out on.

If they really care about the music then they'll see further than artists that produce the mainstream hyped up stuff; and that's a good thing. If that's called 'jumping on the bandwagon' then so be it!

I got into dubstep only about 18 months/2 years ago, went to Fabric one night for a Playaz night, then walked into room 2 into this area playing 'dubstep' and I was just like "WOAH WTF is this" since then I've been hooked.

Anyone else kinda not looking forward to dubstep being big?
