what's this?
a sudden flurry of, what look like, swallows.
some skimming the water.
some orbiting the tree reflected.

must be swallows-at-the-pond time.

more gazelles.
a trio of four.

largest approaches, scopes the scene.
sniffing the water, decides maybe somewhere else would be better.

little ones tumble and lag.

gone now.
where to?

funny how some birds seem to walk everywhere.

modesty?

or maybe they enjoy the sense of immersion.

a whole new little herd of slinky gazelles has arrived.
5 big, 3 little.

one of the bigs has curvy horns.
one of the other bigs has three dark markings that it keeps twitching its snout at.
they're actually birds, perched on its flanks and munching parasites with their red beaks.

the birds are only on one of the beasts.
must be the outrider, the scout.

I reckon if we do it in shifts, between us all we can keep a close eye on that pond 24 hours a day. Make a note of everything interesting...

Im keen. Dead keen.

Doesn't seem to be working now - maybe they were talking potentially libellous gossip and took it off air to be replaced with the overwhelming chit-chat of a celebrity party
Hmm....

blimey.
there's like five really beautiful zebra all slurping it up.
and then some loony bird or sth goes "ah HWOAH WAH WUH WAH!!!!!" really fucking loud.
the zebras look around like "what? eh?" and most of them do one.
what is up with that bird?
it's got a really pissed off sound.
zebras are natty tho.
if that was meant to be camo, surely it'd be green and brown??
they're really easy to see.
