I know that sentry guns are already in use, they're made by Samsung and are all along the Korean border but they can't discriminate between friend and foe, so perhaps the SGs work the same way?

Just got a call off my mate and he was gonna get his X Box chipped tonight but has just bin told about 8 guys from round here have bin banned from Live. The majority were playing MW2 since Monday but a couple weren't but still had chipped X Boxes.

Sniping with a mouse is mint. Headshot, headshot, headshot... unless the server is a shit one and puts killcam on, thus giving away your position.
Oh and it's got to be a HC server, no point in playing on kiddies servers where you can empty a full clip into someone and they're still running at you.
