I know it's not cool to discuss race but I agree with the thread starter. It was the same with D&B for me, especially after 98.

@jeffery dj

you are fucking dull my friend,
first of all for calling troy a brostepper,
and for dissing on four of the best producers dropping tunes today,
and for being on a dubstep forum not knowing what the fuck you are talking about.
you are a fucking chode stroker, end of story.

the point I was making, which you have horribly side-stepped, is that you can't judge a book by its cover.

and neither can you tell someone's race by the kind of music they like or produce, which is a pretty ignorant and far-fetched assumption.

i just started getting into uk music last year but i can definitely tell US white boy producer hiphop beats from black ones most of the time. just listen to scott storch's beat's he oozes whiteness lol. i think it has to do with the music you grew up to. for example- hiphop producers in the 90s grew up listening to their parents soul records, and its reflected in the way they make music. a white guy who grew up hearing white music and then picked up hiphop as he grew older will have a different perspective. culture, such as dancing and church music plays a big part as well.

valid thread. no reason freak out like hes Michael Richards in the comedy club

I don't think discussing race is taboo, but this thread is pretty ridiculous.

Race is irrelevant in terms of someone's music, the roots of someone's culture is a different story though and can be part of the magic imo.

These well known sayings spring to mind - assumptions make an ASS out of you / an assumption is the mother of all fuck ups.

For instance - to assume that because someone is white they will only or mainly listen to 'white music' when growing up is by far the most ignorant statement in this thread imo. Kinda showing the redness of your neck there bruv.

^ This.

Yeah of course there are some styles of music that are heavily influenced by the roots of a certain race. But I would never think that dubstep was one of them. Infact I think dubstep, & therefore many other styles of electronic music, actually BRIDGE THE GAP between races. It doesn't fucking matter whether yr white or black or chinese or a goddamn fish, if you feel the music, everyone's gonna vibes off it. The OP's general outlook is severely warped.

I Agree with the thread starter, From before producing we used to hear music without a technical frame of mind, I think music has always been very visual, Race and what the producer is like personally after listen to afew tracks would come to mind, Purely based on the pictures the music paints in our minds.

This guys just asking if anyone else gets the same feeling. Racism has nothing to do with it.

The only threads that are not pointless are ones that teach, which is like 10% of this forum.

Funny how people love to get aggressive and try make this guy sound dumb purely for sharing he's feelings.

If u don't like what he's saying, Go out and live your life, no1 told u to comment.

Thats why we don't really do this forum thing. We make music and build up our lives. Sitting here tryna prove the guy wrong won't get you nowhere in life, waste of time....

Voicing your opinions cool, but disrespecting coz someone thinks different make u look simple.
