comparing a genre of music to a social revolution is a bit crass mate.

why the fuck do u uk lot say that dubstep is localised?? how so?? I know it started as a "south london thing", but come on! It has spread, and even alot of headz in the states are serious about it and are keepin the torch alive. Our ambassador is Joe Nice u all must stepcorrect and give em what he owes. But, dudes in the westcoast are really bumping it with djs and labels, so are the eastcoast and midwest. I think its a uk,us & euro thing if u ask me.... watch out for japan and austrialia too!
i like dubstep, do u like dubstep? http://www.freewebs.com/basstimes
it's a shame opera has that social stigma over here...you go to one at a roman ampitheatre in italy and it's a completely different kettle of fish...people having picnics & getting lashed in their seats, singing along with the tunes, cheering ironically when something goes wrong on stage...it's jokesShonky wrote:You know many binmen into opera?freqone wrote:im confused,,,,what does ones social class have to do with the music they listen to?

'The revolution will not be televised..it'll be broadband broadcast worldwide...'
all changes in the world manifest because of personal transformation in people's hearts...if the music can heal inner conflicts and help us integrate our personalities and be inspired creatively it can help bring change...
also the dubstep network is invisible and under the radar, also those people creating it are pretty much on the cultural cutting edge, in terms of innovation and sound technology...sound creates and alters physical form and reality, so those that control the sound can transform our experience of the world...also anything done from love carries the vibration and transmits it, 'the fire ignites other torches yet the flame is not diminished'
revolution is evolution, nothing happens overnight but natural laws dictate cycles throughout time, we ultimately don't control reality, it exists independently of us and we just ride the wave...dubstep is the cultural expression of future consciousness, a dimension of sound based on inner-hearing and physical feeling, a tribal trance-dance that allows the spirit to flow
dub has always been strongly spiritual, political, revolutionary and tribal
'rebel music' for the ghetto youth, a form of worship and spiritual practice
'to meditate on bass weight', revolution won't come from violent explosive action in the world, but subtle changes in the inner world, the reclaiming of our own 'headspace', conscious realisaton of higher truth
be the change that you want to see in the world and through positive intention you can make it happen
'don't follow the trends follow the vibe, it's the vibe not the trends that keep us alive'
bless, peaceout

Aye, but surely person to person trading is favourable to buying all your records from Tesco (even though ebay to take an extortionate and unwarranted cut).MacPhellimey wrote:Dubstep surely reinforces the status quo (socially, not musically) more than it changes it? One need only look at the £100 copies of DMZ001 or whatever on eBay to see perfect examples of commodity fetishism.
And have you seen DMZ001 destroy a dancefloor, the record definitely hold's some portion of that £100 tag.
What am I on about? £100 for a record? Tis madness.
