I know its tempting to try and be excision (lol i was on the same boat just about 3 weeks ago) but its really not a good idea and you'll wind up just wasting time.JWMMakerofMusic wrote:Hello all. I just started getting into listening to Dubstep when I first heard Excision and Datsik's brilliant track "Swagga" a few months back. One can't say Dubstep without thinking about all the thought and editing and feeling that went into that masterpiece! Since then I've pooled through the Dubstep Production Bible and played around with FL Studio (well, I've been using FL Studio for years, but I've produced mostly trance). I love the experimental sounds in the many various tracks of Dubstep.
Now, this isn't really a "what plugins should I use" type thread as I found plenty of links to great free distortion units (and plenty of threads saying "you should buy Ohmicide" or "Izotope Trash" or "Massive Synth", etc). I still haven't experimented enough yet, but I'm starting to get the hang of producing Dubstep.
No, rather, this is a thread with one simple question, "What manner of plugins/outboard effects do Datsik and Excision use?" When I play with my sounds, I never can quite get the same types of sounds they use.I don't wish to copy their style for my own future productions. I'm just super curious. Any clues?
Cheers.
PS For future reference, you shouldnt make threads about "How can I make datsik/excision sounds?" because people post things like that all the time and the guys here on DSF get cranky about them. I personally don't mind.
Exact plugins/outboard effects that Datsik and Excision use?

My advise to anyone who wants a decent all-round synth dont get massive it costs 180 quid and 100's of artists use it but its your choice.

wow ur are all faggets and trolls.
Datsik is famous for using a access virus ti, he uses all the internal effects of the synth...
they cost about $5,000.
good luck.

As Above, So Below
Korg ESX + Kp3 - Access Virus Ti = MPC 1000 (master) = mackie 1640i = live apc40LIVE(salve) = pro-tools 9
L two track

Re: Exact plugins/outboard effects that Datsik and Excision
and lemme guess? jesus is a mushroom, and uses THREE viruses? XD
The more i hear swagga the more i understand how the sounds were made and how distorted my understanding of them was... simply because the tune itself is awesome.
