I don't really know why we just revived an 8 month old thread but this is p much the most spot-on definition of "hipster" ive ever heard

just a side note, i think the first people to call someone else a hipster is, by the common standards, a major hipster him/herself. it's just another homogenous youth movement that happens to be cool right now. i really dunno why, but i kinda get a tiny bit annoyed when someone uses the term inappropriately. ie. calling someone a hipster when they clearly aren't. i'm pretty sure it has something to do with the fact that today everyone who doesn't dress in a barrel and suspenders gets called a hipster. it's something you hear all the fucking time.

on the subject, i believe the people with ironic moustache and 2nd hand clothes aren't a big fan of the brockout stuff as so commonly suggested on this forum, but rather the la beat/hip hop influenced stuff like fly-lo and hudson mohawk. just my 2 cents.

this is so true!

i remember in september i saw flylo and gaslamp killer spin a free show right outside downtown LA. it attracted the so called "hipster" crowd, most of the people their were really snotty. im positive maybe like 50% of the people their were actually their for flylo, the rest merely came because maybe one of their friends told them to go, or because it was free.

This. Never understood why hipsters get a associated with the more agro side of dubstep on here. All the "hipsters" in my area seem to be talking about stuff like James Blake and Mount Kimbie. Maybe it's different in other cities though?

Hipsters, as a general rule, like anything that gets a good review from Pitchfork. That means Burial, James Blake, Mount Kimbie, and Flying Lotus.

Seems to me "filth" has become one of the new Hipster trends. Unfortunately in my area, filth is all thats associated dubstep to most people, so lately Ive been telling people I listen to future bass music or something along those lines.
