Hey Depone, I just have a off-topic question but can you tell when or how many people are following you on Beatport?

When you finish mastering a track do you bounce it with or without dithering ?

I ask this because if someone's song is gonna be released later on a label and decide to send it further to a mastering studio for a commercial release. It is not good to dither a track twice

Maybe its an idea when you finished your work on a track to bounce both dithered and undithered.
Only just saw this. Uh, dithering is just adding noise at about -96dB. So you can dither quite a lot of times before it makes any difference at all. ;)

Another bump for the masses!

Got lots of work from this, big ups!

PS: I may scrap the donation service as everyone so far has asked how much to give to me, and seems pointless if I can set a standard rate of say £10-15 (Thats how much people have been donating so far), and £20-£25 for stem mixes.

What do you lot think? Fair? No? Yes?

Shouts to Disporah, Hurtdeer, Macka, Dusky, Myralfur, Second Line and slavetothewage...
rezpekt. even with all the back and forth we're doing a lot of the work is really amazing. breathed some new life into some of the tracks in a really nice way :)

Here's a small thought -
I respect Depone and I really admire his ambitions nd music but I still think that people will not pay for such service
Reason 1 - There are people with better gear , do stuff cheaper and have better samples from bigger artists to show off
Reason 2 - Dubstep producers mostly are poor ( like me ) , since this forum section mostly consists newbies who are having rough time getting their tracks done then why not help them out , for free ? as you said you will do it just for practice . What goes around comes back around , remember.
Am I wrong , Depone ?

From what I'm reading they already are.
Runna and Cricky wrote:There are people with better gear , do stuff cheaper and have better samples from bigger artists to show off
Example please. To be fair Depone has the best of the best in digital software and knows how to use it properly. It's unlikely you'll find much better than this at this price. If you're referring to hardware, it's subjective that it's even better than top of the range digital processing nowadays anyway.
Runna and Cricky wrote:Dubstep producers mostly are poor
That's one hell of a broad assumption lol
Runna and Cricky wrote:why not help them out , for free ?
Nobody wants to stay poor and newbies need to realise that it costs money for professional service. Invest in yourself and appreciate yourself more as a result.

As gear , I ment hardware , yes.I've seen a lot of people advertising their "Mastering" services here
Tek mastering and so on (I don't remember the names) .
I know quite a few DJ's who are on my MSN . For an example Stagga lives very poor and Vista said that he gets enough just to survive , so think yourself.
I will not pay for anything til I have some REAL material to show ;) . And free mastering isn't a thing for me , if somebody masters my track or if I use some bass patch from the internet then I feel that I don't own that track .
And if he's doing well and earning good $$$ with it then I'm happy for him .

ok, im going to answer these to the truth...
answer 1 -
Your right, i dont have great mastering hardware, I do however cross check these so called 'masters' (i use that in a loose sense as I'm not Mastering as such, just making a track playable and stand out) on a £15,000 pair of professional Horn hi-hi speakers with lowther drivers, being powered by power conditioned mains, discrete tube amplifiers across the board and a well designed listening room. That and i believe i know and trust my ears to be good on judgments. The track Antimatter I made with downlink was mixed and 'mastered' by me alone, separate mastering is going on tho for vinyl as theres some technical points i may make errors on, like the frequency diference between digital vs vinyl.

answer 2-
I have done work in the past for free, and i do offer advice to the many many messages i receive from youtube/soundcloud/here.
I also have a string of successful youtube tutorial videos, and have been asked by a big sample manufacturer (cant name yet due to legal reasons) to make a series of samples and videos accompanying them

And you say that you dont believe people wont pay for such a service? My account spreadsheet tells another story all together. Not only that but people have sent me messages thanking me as they have now got the said track signed etc... so your point of view that im not really helping isn't true. I also have a client list now that is not only artists here, but by word of mouth i have 3 labels I do their digital mastering for.

As for that Tek mastering... I dont wash it with all the sales and media lingo, they are seemingly doing a good job at what they do.

Im an honest, straight up fella, and dont want to mislead people. All I have had is positive feedback from the clients who have used my service. Hearing is believing.
I get the impression that you think im another statistic of small mastering companies. Well i'm not, im just trying out a different approach and has yielded great results!
