my first thought when I heard about this was, "what would happen to music?"
because it's definitely shifted almost entirely to the internet at this point... anyone can create and upload a song from almost anywhere (I just recorded a song, and filmed/edited a music video all on my phone and uploaded directly to YouTube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6T56eVDaciQ).
If they took away the internet, would it revert back to the old ways? Having to play shows, hope to get noticed, rely on the radio? Would major labels make a huge comeback without the internet? people would pretty much have to buy CD's if downloading was no longer an option..
we're all on this forum presumably because we like music, so what do you guys think?

Re: Obama's Internet Killswitch
forums, blogs, zeitgeists and more already caused a pretty important shift in consciousness and awareness, and this is exactly why this shit happens.miscreant wrote:hackman wrote:i don't understand how you yanks let it get to that state
it may be shit over here, but at least there is public outrage when try to push something as draconian as that on us
Meh, not really. We get shafted and pissed on by many things that would cause riots anywhere else, we sit down and moan about it for a while till nothing changes then just accept things.
Its all about the mass riotings that go on elsewhere, a bit more of that and maybe the public might have a bit more of a voice, while we sit about moaning about it on forums and in newpaper columns nothing is going to change, understandably.
when i read zeitgeist is the most watched online documentary in the history of internet my first thought was: this will backfire on internet. and it did
if some of the youngsters here were 100% honest, they would admit snh alone helped them look at things from a bit of a different perspectives. i saw them changing in the last couple of years, if they'll admit it or not that's another issue

and yeah, small internet enterprises like digi labels, even bigger offline labels that rely mostly on internet promo nowadays should prepare for the oldschool style of doing biz or abandon
