@hakka
i love that intro, with the vocals it sounds very relaxing.
i think the main lead could do with a little more on the low end, it sounds a bit too 'tinny' if you get me..
the sub is fine, just a little more on the low end. other than that, sick track

@mashmash
loving this one, i love grime and youve done this well, very listenable good stuff :)

as for me...i decided to have a go at drum&bass
never really listened to it much before, but dubstep brought me closer to the scene,
so i thought i would have a go at producing some DnB

let me know what you think

@Mortal reaaaally feelin that mate. A short attack pad or something could go nice in the into, and the intro could do with being a little longer too :)

Hey guys. Different approach for me. I usually muck around doing dubstep/Ambient type stuff. But I thought i'd give a bit of liquid a go.

I know it's a dubstep forum, but you guys are full of help, which helps me out alot :D

Soundcloud

Will return the favour <3

@Hakka. Dude that's sick. Definitely loving the switch up. Def a bit more FX and that is going to be tops mate!

@ObsidiaMusic. Really liking this man. Keen to hear once you've done more. Sounding dirty!

Midrange wob wob. Overcompressed. Snap transitions. But, I like the harmonies. Perhaps you'll like it? I feel mostly done about it, might add some details here and there or tweak the form some more. Please tell me what you think of it, I'd appreciate any feedback!

@ Oscarhenson - Very chilled but yeah, need more depth and maybe something else a little extra? not sure what when all else fails I always try some reggae guitars :w: but thats just me. Liked the vibe though :) My snare was made up of lots of shit... and I think I put one in an octave lower too (memory fails me but I will have a look.) Yeah when I listened back properly the sampled got a bit much for me (if your interested it's from my favourite man Bill Hicks) Cheers!!

@Kingnoble - I'm very jealous! I been teaching myself Ableton for about 6 months too and your stuff seems much better than any shit I done yet!! Yeah, love the track just one thing I thought. At about 1.05 when that cool melody pops in after the drop I would really feel lots of delay on it, but that might just end up sounding messy. Anyways keep up the good work :)

Drum pattern could work - but needs a consistent hi-hat 'shuffle' to carry the pace through the gaps between kicks, consider sidechaining the kicks to this shuffle to get it breathing.

The high pitched grrr would damage your ears in a club - needs a bit of work.

Also its drum and BASS, needs more weight - defo need so extra sub in there, its all mid range!

Have to say not really feeling, d&b is the one to go dance to - and I couldnt really lock onto anything to get me going in this track :/

Started woking on this track and have ended up with something at 140 bpm, but with a much bouncier feel to it - would probs work as a transition track in a set from dubstep to something more uptempo - maybe a proper DJ might agree? Comments for comments :)

(abrupt ending is becaus I'm not sure where to go with the track yet!)

Took counterpoint. I am a violist. So, I know the meaning of both. But thank you for the feedback, and I am curious to know more. When you say those, do you mean to say that the dynamics and harmonic progression of the piece are unsatisfying to you? If so, which parts specifically would you say are the weakest, and how?

Like the sweeps that start coming at 1.00. The build to 2.18 leaves some space for you to put in some variation on the lead melodically, the same way you did at 1.37 from what it was before. Personally I feel the sub is a bit low in the mix, but that is a matter of taste. The pads and bass are the same ostinato for the whole track--perhaps you may want to put in some variation there. The overall vibe sounds like it's leading somewhere -- where? Though your ending has some space to resolve that.

Hmm, that's an interesting one. The interlocking makes for an odd effect, but I like it. Also like the swoopy rattle noise! Mixing wise, I hear a bit more on the mids and highs than I would mix, but that's personal preference.

@sesG nice tune, like the pads at the start give a nice atmosphere, and the breaks are nice and progressive, nice mixdown, doesn't sound studio wuality but it sounds more like a band recording with synths, which is no bad thing if you were intentionally going for that, and it sounds like you were so well done, sorry for that stupid rant, but yeah reckon you could have some masive build up instead if ending then drop in to nothing and build back up and drop into something you know the normal dance music way! :)

@airabam nice sound but you might need to high pass some of the sounds as they are interfereing with the low end too much and just sounds like slutter. Cool ideas though interesting use of sounds, but a little too repetitive, needs to evolve and not stay trapped in this crazy level of the game!

@kontrol, nice ambience and space but just wished it lasted for longer, the intro is very minimal but cool still,just wish it progressed into a proper tune and you'know got some other tings going on, like a melody or two! Or a harmony!

@bradicle, nice drums fat sound everything sounds well produced innit, nice samples of pianos and general amience pad sounds and shiz, cheesy voice sample "music is my life" butu fuck it! very jump uppy, fatt tight bass though well controlled :) Please don't use that sample as may time as you have.
Gets well cheesy towards the end with the girls singing, but still nice and musical just not my cuppa tea, good mixdown overall and tings :)

Can I get a feedback on dis please :) Favours will be returned :) :

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah, good ears. I had an issue on that one trying to fit the sub and the bass together, and you're right, it can get awfully muddy there. And I think you're also right that it gets too repetitive and I need to add in variation. When you say it needs to evolve, what kinda evolution could you imagine working?

As for your tune, I really like it. Good mixing, I really like the drums and interesting variations on the bass. It creates a really nice rolling groove. Also love that rising bubbling noise that comes in sometimes. I like the idea of having a guitar point, but my ears hear it taking away too much attention from the cool stuff your bassline is doing. The most important part is that the notes do something interesting, and it's a nice combination to hear as a listener. But I dunno, I guess hearing it in comparison to that morphing bassline, it has a bit too much of a static timbre for most of it and for some reason, I just don't hear them meshing that well in terms of the timbres--that is until the very end, then it starts breaking into some new ground. I think that would be a cool way to add in some variation. It's tough though, because it's sounds like it's doing lead and not rhythm, but maybe as a means of adding variation, you could do some chords and rhythm work with the guitar? I think that would fit in great considering that you've already got a nice groove going with the bassline. But lots of these things are matters of taste, and do depend on what you're going for with the piece. Nice work regardless!

Interesting intro, it potentially suggests a lot. Wondering where the build will take it as it progresses.
