hey, this thread made me happy. intelligent discussion rather than moaning! shows you something about the crowd we're working with at the moment.

but, to me, it's all about respecting production. i listened to excision's shambhala 2010 mix today, and it blew me away. i also listened to burial's etched headplate, and it too blew me away (as usual)

anyone who cant see the production value and intensity of quality brostep, or the atmosphere and depth of quality deep dubstep, is a peculiar person, and not a real musician, in my opinion.

seems there is a gut reaction to hate on anything that's different, but to me, that's absurd... its like hating radiohead because you like boards of canada, or hating nirvana because you like chopin

It's not hating on things that are different but rather quite the opposite, hating on things that are samey. Just sayin'!

kari byron from myth busters

also the production forum will always give you a broader/more open view than the general dj/listeners, because well that's just how it is man
wanna see some narrow minded people post this same topic on the main board

cept i'm the cat that wants to take over the world :(

kudos for being one of the few i've seen on the forum to think like me
Not really sure why you're frowning about wanting to take over the world. That's the noblest cause (of course, in the proper context) I can think of. Maybe you need to re-read my original statement, cuz the cat that wants to take over the world's the cat I'm looking for.

We're all just on different sides of the same coin. I'm glad you're feeling me. I don't wanna end up a jaded ass sick of it all producer who can't be arsed to give a fuck. I do and I will. I'll have to peep some of your tracks. Kudos to YOU man.
it's only sad being so far away from said goal. it makes me happy to be able to have the vision :P

Atleast someone sees the point here!!
Anyone who says they're a real dubhead or started listening to dub when it first started and you think ur opinion is greater than others, fuck you and no one cares... :t: that's basically all i gotta say lmao... the old school dubstep, new school, whatever it may be, they all got their good and bad sides, it's all based on opinion. Get over it, your notion of a good sound is different than anothers, soon as you learn that, then my friends, you can truely skank on! :i:

It would give you a more informed opinion no? Spending time with the genre and being educated has to count for something imo. It was told to me by several house heads that they turn up their nose when someone just all of a sudden decides to do house music. Like you aren't really a house dj if you don't know who Mr Fingers is right? Dubstep isn't as bad with that shit but still I get that weird look on my face when a local "dubstep" dj tells me they HATE horsepower or something. Point is, everyone has the right to voice their own opinion but that doesn't mean people are going to take you seriously.

Smile, it's only music.

I'm sure these divides have existed ever since man first beat a stick on a rock. Even trance wasent the cheesy shit we know it as today...Sadly dubstep will be in the same boat soon because of pussies wanting a more polished less aggressive sound.

More informed opinion or not, it's music bro... not math. If you think ur opinion is greater than others because you've been litsening to the genre for awhile, I personally wouldn't take you seirous lol. people who do that come off very arrogant and childish. As for your last sentence... you basically just reinforced my statement but with abit of the arrogant twist  . I can't believe you went as low as saying you have to know old school stuff before being considered "part of the gang" lmao... If you're not accepted because you dont know old school stuff... personally i'd be with a diff crowd. But... that's just my opinion. *serious face* All im saying is never look down on someone unless your helpin em up

you wouldn't think dubstep would be so full of elitists, i thought it would never get to the level that some hipsters/metal heads take it. guess i was wrong.

caspa's album really defines how i think about this shit. everybody's talking, nobody's listening.
