it's true. bootsy collins found it when it crashed into his barn.Hurtdeer wrote:FSTZ wrote:THE FUNK IS A LIVING CREATURE
however, aside from the jokes, thanks for all the advice from everyone. i haven't been producing long, but i really do think just dancing like a crack head helps you to literally "feel" the rhythms and understand where there should be space and where notes should hit. it also gets you laid... or not.

I think I made my most danceable track today.
Re: How do you make your songs dancable?
learn to dance like black people and see if you can dance like that to your songs. black people know how to move their whole body to the groove of the track. most white people will pick a move or 2 and self consciously stick to that without letting their whole body open up. not trying to stereotype here, but its an african roots thing. african tribes have dances for everything.

lol, African stereotypes aside... the point is to learn to dance. Wanna know a secret? Heel, toe, heel, toe. You can slide and shimmy around the dancefloor with little more than that. Practice that and as you get better you'll have developed your own style. Once that is second nature and you hear a song you fucking love, you'll find yourself going into a complete trance on the dancefloor...and your body will just take over.
Also, music festivals. Every time the lady and I go to Shambhala our dancing improves.

I think the only thing to say besides the above mentioned is this; dubstep more so than any other genre (IMO) is only appealing to the era and "danceable" when it progresses in a logical manner. If there is an unnatural sounding switch up or if noatation is off then it stands out big time. Kinda hard to put into words, It seems these days that a lot of ppl are trying to over componsate for this by filling the tracks up with a lot of beeps and whips to help keep a song moving, But in reality they should have reconsidered the structural integrity of the overall sound and get every thing working together. If I'm not making any sense it's cause I got back from getting teeth workrd on and still all messed up from the pain killers they gave me.abZ wrote:That is kind of a tough question because there really isn't an answer for it. There really isn't one tried and true formula that is guaranteed to work every time and nor should there be. You aren't going to want to hear this answer but, trial and error. Some people can just start straight off making bangers others it takes years and yet others never really get it. I am no help I know lol

Shuffle and deep bass... and asking my gf what she thinks.
You gotta ask yourself: Will this sub-bass get me laid?
Music is like sex there's a million ways to do it but only certain positions you can use to get your girl off. When I go down to the clubs with my girl I like to feel the beat with a strong, emotionally charged melody and some nice lyrics that make me "throw my hands in da aiirr sometimes". ya feel?
The first time I dj'ed a college house party I asked the chick who was hosting it what she wanted to hear (She was hot btw). She said "Something I can shake my ass too" and well yeah I played stuff she could shake her junk too. And it was a good night.

drums and bass, the core of dubstep, try leaving you two bar loop like a bitch and make some crazy grooves. Also wobbles are what make this genre dancy, without them its fucking slow and gay(in the eyes of your average idiot), and girls really don't get it. BRAAAAAPPPP

Girls love vocals. Girls love bass. Girls dance to both. Where there are girls, there are guys. Conquer the clunge and the dancefloor will fill.
