it s up to the user if they want your email for spam/info....
its not necessarily like that....i have dlded tunes without giving my email.

its not the perfect solution and im pretty sure they will fck up just lik soundcloud at some point, but for the time being and nobody around to program a decent shop, why not take the easy route.

Ideas re: who decides what gets in:

1. Everyone on the forum votes on submissions, so theres no personal preference.
2. Do a series, like Dubstep Allstars, so DSF Compilations 1 - compiled by X.
3. Have one member to review deep tracks, on for filth etc etc, though obviously theres tunes that cant be categorised.

I dunno, just some ideas :e:
I would also be up for submitted stuff, when the time is right!
My name is Dom and I like making ambientish music and drinking tea. Nice to meet you.

Paravrais i dont see any problem with you adding submissions as long as when it comes to your tracks, your not allowed to vote.
Same goes for The Rest Of Us.

Seems we have a web host (tentatively) and as far as that goes were good. Being that were in the basic stage of this thing, the website need not be Mind Blowing right off the bat. just a place to call home. If it turns out that someone wants to do some Dreamweaver or HTML work, i still think that the site should be simple and to the point. No need for all those cheap bells and whistles that make a site look like crap.

Look how simple and effective this website is: http://www.monocromatica.com/netlabel/

Promotions are still a little off in the future and I'm sure that as this thing starts takin form there will be plenty more talk about this subject.

We have a VERY talented artist already volunteered to mix the tracks together! (Thanks Basic A!) :)

We have more than enough folks willing to contribute ABSOLUTE gems to this little project. (Another Green Light!) :D

It takes me a total of 10 to 15 minutes to do a simple master of a properly mixed track with Izotope Ozone. Does anyone else use something like this?

As with anything there's BOUND to be little This's and Thats. We have the resources to do this. I have a really good feeling about this guys and i think that what makes a thing like this crumble is all the talk about "It should be like this." "It should be like that." I understand ppl have reservations but lets not take a trip to negative town

Lets not worry about perfection in every detail on this first try out. You have to Crawl before you learn how to walk. You have to Walk before you learn how to Fly.

A great man once said "Don't Talk About It, BE About It."

I know where ur heads at Deadly but I'm just offering up last ditch resort solutions here.

We want this thing to be as clean as possible but if no one steps up to certain areas shit like this may be our last option agree?

or just pool together and pay for proper mastering
i know some guys who do that, just because something is free (assuming that's where you're going with this atm) doesn't mean no $ is going to be sunk into it

I'd be happy to pay to get my own tune mastered for it. Think most people would, it's not that expensive

http://www.subvertmastering.com/prices.htm

Only 30 pound a track, and could get some sort of mass discount if there was twenty tracks going through I'm sure.

Then, yeah web host it. Get someone to design some cover art etc. Promote the fuck out of it.

Also that website has clearly had a lot of good work put into it AfterEmpire...

I think it should be bandcamp for now. The mastering needs to be done properly and the tracks need to NOT BE MIXED. There's no point doing this unless its done right.

True True True. And yeah, i think free is the best policy for this first run out. Based on the success of it maybe charge for future releases but yeah ur totally right.

This is a very economical solution and it keeps the love in the community. I'm a graphic design major with an AA in Fine Arts so If it really came down to it, I'm willing to throw together an Album cover.

As someone who has spent a few semesters learning Web design and Html, the site seems pretty basic to me. But thats just my opinion and I've been known to be wrong from time to time. :)

I'm all for the tracks not being mixed Paravrais, I just kinda liked the idea of having them on sort of a fabriclive type vibe where they were all separated into tracks in the sense that you could change from one to the other on the cd but still havin them blend together as they played from start to finish but either way. It's a minute detail that could either be one way or the other.

Could someone who is more knowledgeable on Bandcamp fill me in on what service it is that they provide?

Well html wise it's basic yeah, it's not a massively fancy website but I meant artwork wise it hasn't been thrown together in 5 minutes on ms paint XD if your into graphic design though it shouldn't pose any problems for you making a few images? I'm familiar with bandcamp so I can work that side of things if needs be and put your images up. It's a free service, you can put up your tracks and set them to pretty much anything you want, downloadable free, paid, free but email required, all formats, grouped EP's, single tracks etc.

bandcamp is restricting the downloads on free things, though. so if youre thinking free release host them elsewhere.

Also they don't take a cut of the paid tracks so why restrict the free ones? makes no sense and I can't find any mention of it on their site...

They talk about this in their blog. Free downloads = bandwidth. People who don't sell tracks don't make money for the site, so they have less free dl's allowed. If you make more than 200 euros or quid I can't remember, they let you have more dls.

Also who told you they don't take a cut of the paid tracks? They take 15%.

:)

I'm more than willing to do a few images. Talkin Album cover image and what not right?

If bandcamp is is legit like it sounds then yeah sounds like its the place for us.

paradigm x said that He/She (i couldn't tell from the kitten pic sorry! lol) might have some free web hosting they could Donate. and that sounds alright too if Bandcamp doesn't work out.

I'm also thinkin that we should start a new thread soon either asking for submissions via Soundcloud links, or giving the link to The soundcloud group i created for submission that way.

I think the latter is where its at tho!

just a quick thought, whats wrong with something like Megaupload ?

Though i have to suggest that Paradigm X seems like the best offer we have been given so far.
