except not?

there were some classics on dreamcast, but I remember buying about 5 N64 games for every 1 dreamcast gamecast game I liked
but ps1 had even more than N64...

aside from the complicated past Dreamcast had when being brought out,

I think Dreamcast had the problem that it was ahead of it's time for a bit but then got left behind when the PS2 and XBox came out (even though it was far superior to the XBox in terms of its games). Which made people not bother with it.

Anyone claiming they aren't good consoles is a fucking idiot overall though. It had some awesome Arcade conversions (some of the best any console has managed outside of the Neo Geo AES as far as I'm concerned) and in addition to that just some great games as well (including Resident evil code veronica which I'm playing all the time, It's on the floor next to me, in fact plus also load of beat em ups kicked ass on dreamcast too).

wait are you seriously trying to compare the games on the xbox to that of the dreamcast? excuse me while i piss myself laughing. SWKOTR? Halo? Halo 2? Ninja Gaiden?

Dreamcast as a whole was shit. Their developers as a whole were shit.... and the story of any console is how well you work with the developers of your game. The Sega OS was shit to design for and was windows CE based. Really fucking terrible. The title kill rate on dreamcast was well over 60%.

The main argument for dreamcast is that it had online gaming... which is kinda laughable in its argument. Only recently has online pvp gaming been any sort of possible. Only PVE aspects really worked because of the speeds relative to the average customer. In 1997/8/9 most of the world was still on dialup and just toying with dsl. Not exactly prime for online gaming.

It's kind of like now.... technically there are 3D games being made... but how many people have 3d tv's to use them? Does that make it ahead of their time? You know the 3d games are going to be fucking terrible, but hey its 3d right?

The only 'elite level' game on Dreamcast was Shenmue. Pretty much shit else

Phantasy star online wasn't really that fantastic. Was buggy, crashed a lot, and lag was insaneeeeeee

go back now, dreamcast had so many sleepers that were never marketed on the scale of n64 games

Jet Set Radio is the argument I get from literally everyone about dreamcast. The controls were balls terrible.... sountrack was no bueno... it had a neat art concept at the time that literally was worth the wait for the xbox version if you're that much of an art snob.

Any halfway decent game was killed by shit controls, load times, and wanting to launch your vmu accross the room when it died and wiped all your saves

There are much better FPS's but the game literally revolutionized console gaming. Was the first FPS to hit a console and not have murderous lag issues

in one of my game design classes we spent a few weeks debating games openly and basically just chatting shit about why each others taste in games sucked... Jet Set Radio was the go-to justification for dreamcast.

Cell Shading can only take you so far

It was a decent game but reminded me of Secret of Evermore a lot style wise and was almost a direct rip on that secret of mana/evermore playstyle

the boss fights were a novel idea minus the slow as fuck based fighting
