and the guy the police killed at the G20 a few weeks ago who was just passing by.
Police hiding their badges... Masking their faces... it was a dark day and said alot about the state of policing in this country.

Orwell was bang on...
Yeah mate. The thing that gets me is how they tried to pass it off like his death was unrelated at first - saying he died of causes not linked to the attack.

"The latest witness statements and photographs contradict the version of events put forward by police immediately after his death." - from The Guardian, article: http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2009/ap ... lice-death

It was then revealed he died as a result of banging his head off the pavement when he was struck by the officer. It just goes to show that police forensics teams will lie for officers who are themselves in jeapordy of prosecution.

Makes me ill mate.

One of the few multi-page threads where I read every single post and re-read posts.

Since getting into dubstep, I'm backtracking and "side"tracking into grime, garage, funky and trying to get into those styles more. One thing that became a recurring theme with grime was the beefs at raves. Instantly reminded me of hip-hop in general in North America.

There's been times in Ottawa at freestyle events (as innocent as you'd think that would be) where two mans go head-to-head...with some minimal ass prize for the winner (maybe free drinks, maybe $100 cash prize lol)...both are there with massive squads. Many times the winner gets stomped the fuck out. So what, ppl should aim to lose to avoid beatdowns? It's ridiculous...

Not much to add to this thread, other than the fact that music should be about unification...and not fragmenting nights into various factions and shit. I don't go to clubs much...partly for that reason, partle due to the fact is that shit's all about image nuff times.

In the States, Hip Hop began as the voice of the unseen and unheard communities that were poorly represented by a biased media and a fearful government. It was a way to communicate with other people in a similar situation with a language and style untainted by the socially oppresive environment that these people were dealing with.

The community was united by recognising in themselves what others had failed to see, and spread all over the country embedding itself in nearly every major city with each point developing a style of it's own, yet ultimatley rooted in one overall sound.

With it's growing popularity as a platform for creativity, artistic expression and political change it soon spread to the younger generations of the white middle class, opening them up to a whole new take on life in their country. Such a change in attitude within the main body of future voters and tax-payers threatened the power base of the ruling class, and so Hip Hop was silenced by various means: censorship & legislation being the two most obvious, but it was mainly through commercialisation. This turned it into a gold rush scenario and created a situation that distorted and diluted the voices of the Hip Hop community. This along with Smack & Crack epidemic pretty much stopped this form of expression from ever realising it's full potential - after the initial success of groups like De La Soul, Ganstarr & Tribe Called Quest the biggest sellers were almost always G. Rap. It's still there in places if you look hard enough, and people are begining to find a way to get through these barriers but the damage has been done - only time will tell if irreparably so.

Anyone see any parallels here?

P.S. Hating the police is like hating the bullet instead of the gun it came from or the person who fired it.
This is neither time or the place.

It's harsh but they do have a point, when certain events/genres attract trouble all the time they will be cracked down on.
Yes, we had this issue at Rollercoaster.. the police banned my live band Marijuanafarmer from performing because we 'were promoting the use of drugs' and cos the promoters were using 'MC's that promoted gun crime'

they(?) should orchestrate fake raves which promote aggression and malice and then when they feel they have the right kind of client base... lock the doors and gas them all.

then make cat food from the bodies and sell it at lidl.

or you should have a boxing ring at a rave and when someone causes trouble you should throw them in and they should have a fair fight one on one... and guards with machine guns can stop people from intervening.

and i dont mean that they fight the person they were causeing 'beef' with, but it should be a lottery system where they are pitted against a randomly selected person who was also causing trouble.
