Bass music.

I think that is the term that most people are most comfortable with at this point. Does it properly describe the genre? Probably not. Is there a better, more exclusive term? Probably not.

Bass music, that’s a new one – or not a really new one but people are saying that a lot. I don’t think that really narrows anything down. I mean, basically anything that has bass in it whatsoever…? I don’t really know what that means [laughs].

I quite like ROOM TWO.

BACK ROOM BASS :o

Props to the mods in this situation, a real tough task to represent the sound with 1 or 2 words.

Then why is there a four page thread already with no definitive word?

we've got the definitive words

there's a four page thread because people care way too much about genre names

Agreed, Im not personally fussed on what the awards are called..but I cant fully agree that all of this fresh sound in question here fits simply in the "garage and house" category, close enough though...

I just still think its a tough job to find a good name to stick to this "new sound" at the moment cause it isnt defined by much other than a rough tempo bracket with bass.

since all labels have some negative connotations (room 2, house&garage, wotucallit...) i think cold description would be the best:

Best 120-140BPM DJ / Producer

i think everyone will understand what it means, and no one will complain it is wrong.

amen brother, really quite shocked that people want house and garage... when i was dancing to house and garage in the 90's, it didn't sound like very much of this stuff -w-

i'm gonna start calling my music trance and blues... :D:

The hip hop of the 90's doesnt sound like the hip hop of today, but its still hip hop, its just evolution, I think 120-140 is a rubbish name, when everyone knows its H&G, regardless of whether it doesnt sound like it did 15 years ago or not.

Agree to disagree then. I'm just saying that I think the terms house and garage mean different things to people who live where house and garage are from is all, heh

I understand what u mean about hip hop, but do u call rustie and hudmo hip hop? That's the evolution of the sound, imo

Also, I'm probably not the best opinion, I still call it all dustep as it adheres to the original ideas of the sound, minus the tempo restriction, which I never liked in the first place. I'm not one who feels he needs to "distance" himself from a sound, rather, I'd like to take a stand. Dj abstracts touch being on dubstep all-stars 1 is what cemented this idea in my head early on, as it's not 140 and is rather garagey, yet somehow still dubstep

Bah, just remembered how stupid it is to argue over genre names, I'll let the people who actually care continue with this one

All love!

that was my concern as well...
juke should be in, same as 110bpm stuff...
but then whole bmp doesnt make sense really :)
