The Whore of Mensa.
Nah, it's not that one. Google "Death Knocks" which was the stageplay. That sounds exactly like this (non-existent) film.
Hmm....

Parson, you seem to like most of my fave films :D

That's one of the bleakest films I've ever seen, but so well done. Anti-hero doesn't even cover the character of Johnny in that, but it's really interesting how his role plays counterpoint to the sadistic yuppy, even though they're quite similar in certain ways.

Thewlis is an amazing actor in that film
Hmm....

True-say true-say

I have that Criterion one - the dvd extra interview with Will Self is a must. Got a pirate one on ebay nuf cheap - that'll teach criterion to not make region 2 dvds!! Mike Leigh is a don.

Love all that northern realism flavour, watched Saturday Night, Sunday Morning and Kes back to back just the other week.

Ooh i fancy watching a film now....

I watched the dubbed version of this, it was terrible, wish they would release a subtitle version with original audio

Watched this one with my parents, and it's fecked up to say the least. It's about how the media aren't just passively observing the badness that goes on; the media (and the people who consume it) are (sort of) complicit in what goes on. The act of observation transforms what is being observed. OOh yeah

i bet that rape scene was kinda messed up to watch with the folx.

did you know that the scenes where he is with his family they are completely unaware of the nature of the film being made and they're just being themselves.

^^ haha yeah. My mum left during the bit where the kid gets killed, she's such a wuss about child murder. Me and my dad were sitting around going 'how can we sit here and watch this stuff?', which I think is what we're supposed to be doing

For those who like something a little different:

Even Dwarfs Started Small (Werner Herzog genius)
Stalker (Tarkovsky brilliance)
Gummo (?!)
Julien Donkey Boy (more ?!)
The Prodigal Son & 5 Venoms (Kung Fu Badness)
Wldstyle (Naturally)
