i have to admit that i believe in aliens because i want to believe in them. I believe in certain "occult" experiences because i've had them.

I can get down with the distinction bein semantic, only cos I dont think "we're" entirelly 'un-alien'
(there I think that was ambiguous enough)

I'm going to have to mention how the desired reaction of those in power is the denial.
I have seen a lot of Alex's movies and I do think he is sometimes over the top, but yeah..
maybe thats what we need right now.
some nutty shit going on and the fact that a large majority of people in the USA still think we care abou the Iraqi people, or the Afganni people is crazy.
we are using the Iraq war to steal the oil and we use Afghanistan for the opium poppy
no brainer here
The U.S. Govt has always been shady, and always will be

The word 'alien' doesnt sit well with me, I think thats my aversion to people saying they 'believe in aliens'Parson wrote:no doubt in my mind that we're alien hybridsdoomstep wrote:

watch the disclosure project vids
high ranking government officials speak frankly about the subject
there are 400 of them and at the time of that press conference, 100 of them had submitted testimony to the disclosure project and the press conference is the first 20 of them very briefly explaining what they want to testify in front of congress. one of the things discussed is 52 catalloged species of EXTRATERRESTRIAL LIFEFORMS that they have dealt with and many of them are so humanoid in appearance that they are impossible to differentiate from humans visually.
this calls into question everything we have come to understand about evolution, and serves as a huge piece of evidence backing the theory of panspermia

Quite interesting and (I think) pretty balanced view on the various conspiracies. Thought these last two paragraphs were pretty interesting
"There are psychological explanations for why conspiracy theories are so seductive. Academics who study them argue that they meet a basic human need: to have the magnitude of any given effect be balanced by the magnitude of the cause behind it. A world in which tiny causes can have huge consequences feels scary and unreliable. Therefore a grand disaster like Sept. 11 needs a grand conspiracy behind it.
'We tend to associate major events — a President or princess dying — with major causes,' says Patrick Leman, a lecturer in psychology at Royal Holloway University of London, who has conducted studies on conspiracy belief. 'If we think big events like a President being assassinated can happen at the hands of a minor individual, that points to the unpredictability and randomness of life and unsettles us.' In that sense, the idea that there is a malevolent controlling force orchestrating global events is, in a perverse way, comforting"

2 words:
occam's razor
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Occam's_Razor
entia non sunt multiplicanda praeter necessitatem,
which translates to:
entities should not be multiplied beyond necessity.
i.e
This is often paraphrased as "All things being equal, the simplest solution tends to be the best one." In other words, when multiple competing theories are equal in other respects, the principle recommends selecting the theory that introduces the fewest assumptions and postulates the fewest hypothetical entities. It is in this sense that Occam's razor is usually understood.

there is no empirical data to back up that explanation.Unempty wrote:Here's the simplest possible explanation: Aliens.selector.dub.u wrote:2 words: occam's razor
Slice that one, mr Occam.
as soon as there is. and it is presented to me in person where i can verify it beyond a shadow of a doubt, i will begin to consider the possibility that aliens are a factor in determining the outcome of human endeavor and history - including but not limited to commercial jet airplanes being flown into
the world trade center towers and the pentagon on september 11th 2001.
until then -i think it clouds perception and our responses to problems of our own making.

Let's just say Occam's Razor isn't made by Gillette Inc of Terra, if you know what I mean ...
Seriously though, conspiracy theories are greatly appreciated by policymakers and intelligence folk, since it makes for wonderful grand smoke screens to cover mundane, ugly and specific truths.
Now, if there was some real investigative journalism, intellectual stamina and political independence in media - and continuously so - perhaps there would be less conspiracy theorizing and more informed engagement by the public in our supposedly democratic process. There's something to be said for transparency and open access to what's effectively our own property - the elected government.
There's plenty of nastiness to go around in truth alone, well before curiously exploring the other side of the aforementioned razor.
But, of course, what good would that do the men in power, right?
