so - are you saying that the lack of people created a sort of cowardly paranoia in me?

Because I'm more inclined to say - It inflamed my sense of personal responsibility...

If someone were to attack me on the road between Houston and Austin...
I would not go gentle and wait for the cops to get there...

..you're saying just as much a chance to encounter fucked up - smack in the middle of it...

haha wooo...

I agree with PKay for once. Part time armchair activists. Everywhere.
I don't know this man, I don't live in the US. Nor do I pretend to know all the ins and outs of the case like most people who have an opinion on this claim to.

That said, the death penalty is horrid.

I agree the death penalty is terrible. I just hate that it's not terrible every day for a lot of people.

I live in Texas where we execute more people than anywhere else in the US. We had an anti-capital punishment protest in Austin with some amnesty international folks in february and had about 100 people show up.... but the night before the execution last night there were thousands of signatures and hundreds of protestors the NIGHT OF the execution.

I just hate that people can't be bothered most of the year

Pkay, people have been caring about him since 2007. But I see what you mean.

Anyway capital punishment is just one big joke to me.

in some cases, ignorance is not a justified reason for chastisement

there's loads of people who need positive stimulation in order to take up a cause or an ideology - not everyone is built to take the initiative and some people dont see how its wrong till its spelled out to them in circumstances like this

you think its a joke when cases like this are brought to the general publics attention BY amnesty international and chastise people for not being involved WITH amnesty international when its amnesty international's job, to do specifically what has happened - that is make a case important in the publics eyes, who normally dont 'care' or take notice of this specific cause!

bit unfair, though i can see why you're pissed, but its still a bit unfair

I just find it intereseting how fast the concept of right and wrong changes or goes completely out the window...
When faced with different circumstance..

You have to respect the purpose of law - in order for it to truly be effective...

so it's function really is - penal

..how do you penalize someone that has nothing to begin with...

That's what I find frustrating. I don't think the law necessarily always has to be penal. If we focused a bit more on rehabilitation and prevention rather than 'I wanna get that guy back as good as he got me' I bet we would see a further reduction of crime. But nowadays the feeling seems to be predominantly focused on institutionalized revenge.
