Re: Most embarrassing thing you've done producing?
Tweaked the distortion and compression on one of my baselines. Using camel phat til it sounded just right. Then saw that the plugin was off. Like the hero boys said "fucked up when your minds playin tricks on ya"
Also, was working on multiple patches for one track. I tried to bounce each individual part out. Then I exited out without saving. Thought to myself "fuuuuuck I lost all the modulations I did" but no biggie cuz I still have each individual sound to work on. Only to find that I exported multiple copies of the whole track, drums and all...

Got curious and watched a 'how to make a skrillex bassline' tutorial.

I couldn't record with my mbox yesterday. I tweaked every button on the mbox, edited all the audio preferences in ableton 20 times just to find out that my mic wasn't even plugged into my mbox. FAIL

Re: Most embarrassing thing you've done producing?
I'm notorious for accidentally turning all my highpass filters off and forgetting about them, and for some reason I always arm the wrong channels when recording, and the times I accidentally do that is when I play best...
Besides that, I left a notebook full of all my old music theory notes, basslines, manuscripts of almost all my songs, etc at a hotel, made a bassline while on some kind of hallucinogenic that ended up sounding like some kind of funky fart, the obligatory tweaking muted channels wondering "wtf happened to my [insert cool sound here]?"
I'm also really bad about changing the settings on all my chorus plugins so that I get phase problems like a bitch and end up making all my mixes mono, and I put a reverb plugin, distortion, phaser, compressor, and a gate on a bus that I later hid without realizing what I was doing then routing almost all my tracks to it with a million sends. When I went back to that mix a few weeks later I listened to it and thought, fuck what happened to this? I went through and tried to eq everything, got rid of all my reverb plugins, and it still sounding like shit, plus the gate was making random clicking noises and shit. Well, when I found a hidden bus I realized what was going on and had to redo all my eq and reverb.

Re: Most embarrassing thing you've done producing?
maybe not so much embarassing, but probably the most retarded thing which has ever happened to me producing:
bring up 2 projects (i use logic) to play to my friend to see what he thinks and has any advice etc etc
click on one project and play it to him, (all works fine)
click behind it, other project pops up and loads i play it to him. - except its a messed up sounding version of the track i had made, (had to stop it quickly and pretend it was a mistake lol)
afterwards i spent ages trying to work out what had happend, turned out that the first project had somehow copied its channel strips to the second project, but all the effects of the original second project were still there as of course was the Midi (i know wtf) so like a clav type sound became a piano, drums where just fucking retarded synthy sounds etc. Even after trying to restore everything i couldnt get it sounding as good as it was >:<

Wrote the tune of my life in around 3 hours non stop > Click export > Export > eave the project file open for the rest of the day, forgot about it.
Turned PC off by the power switch as I was really tired and couldn't be arsed to wait for everything to close (noisey computer, takes a while to boot down - keeps me form getting snug in bed for a few minutes) and forgot to save the project file.
